Oh, and when it comes to OJ, it's something I can't figure out.

Problem is simply that I hate seeing anyone prosecuted and convicted because of who they are. But I also hate seeing anyone getting over because of who they are.

So you see my dilemma, he's been in both groups at different times.

I seriously do not think this is deserving of a life sentence though. The kidnapping is a stretch to say the least. But that's what he's getting. And I don't feel sorry for him per se, he's a ass. I would have liked to seen old Fred chop him into catfood. It's just every time the system gets it wrong, it gets harder and harder to get it right.

I saw on tv that it was unclear if he owned some of the items as a ton of stuff was taken when he lost civil in court and he also set up some shady merchandise thing to avoid the court orders to pay the Goldman's from his civil lost don't know if that was true but I did stay at a holiday inn last night:D :D :D :D :D

I guess carma is a bitch it works in weird ways:congrats: :congrats: :congrats:

How would you have voted if you didn't think he was guilty of the double murders? :dontknow: He isn't being tried for that anymore but apparently he is still being judged for it.

That doesn't seem just or fair to me. I'm not saying he did or didn't commit the double murders, but this is a separate trial and shouldn't the verdict be for the current charges and not the old ones?

I'm glad you're not the Jury ;) ........ but of course most of them probably think the same way

How about we just look at Nevada law

NRS 200.320 Kidnapping in first degree: Penalties. A person convicted of kidnapping in the first degree is guilty of a category A felony and shall be punished:
1. Where the kidnapped person suffers substantial bodily harm during the act of kidnapping or the subsequent detention and confinement or in attempted escape or escape therefrom, by imprisonment in the state prison:
(a) For life without the possibility of parole;
(b) For life with the possibility of parole, with eligibility for parole beginning when a minimum of 15 years has been served; or
(c) For a definite term of 40 years, with eligibility for parole beginning when a minimum of 15 years has been served.
2. Where the kidnapped person suffers no substantial bodily harm as a result of the kidnapping, by imprisonment in the state prison:
(a) For life with the possibility of parole, with eligibility for parole beginning when a minimum of 5 years has been served; or
(b) For a definite term of 15 years, with eligibility for parole beginning when a minimum of 5 years has been served.
[2:165:1947; 1943 NCL § 10612.06]—(NRS A 1967, 469; 1973, 1804; 1995, 1184)
NRS 200.330 Kidnapping in second degree: Penalties. A person convicted of kidnapping in the second degree is guilty of a category B felony and shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 2 years and a maximum term of not more than 15 years, and may be further punished by a fine of not more than $15,000.
[3:165:1947; 1943 NCL § 10612.07]—(NRS A 1967, 469; 1979, 1425; 1995, 1185)

I'm not sure whether it was 1st degree or 2nd degree, but for that charge along he is looking at a lot of years. Add the 11 other charges that he was convicted of, it just may be a life sentence

Again, I feel no sorrow for this piece of shit

I don't recall anything that could be called substantial bodily injury when this happened. So, I'm just guessing it was 2nd degree. The guidelines would probably call for the lower end, being his first conviction. Where the years probably really come from is the gun. And he's old enough that it won't take too many years to make it life anyway.

And if anybody here is ever on my jury, and I'm facing some big shit, don't worry about me doing something stupid again. I guarantee if I skate on a life behind bars once, I won't put myself in that position ever again. In other words I won't pull an OJ. hehe

How much you wanna bet this is a South Park episode this year?

I am with you on this one. He was tried and acquitted for the murders. This is its own case. Would any other convict get life for this infraction? That should be the standard for the decision. I think life is a bit much for the crime.

That being said, I do feel that he is a scum bag and deserves what he gets. So I am grateful that I have been spared the burden of separating the two events while trying to come to a verdict.

The below was just sent to me D', your post made me think of it.

Not sure how much it applies nowadays.

When Cops Retire
When a good cop leaves the 'job' and retires to a better life, many are jealous, some are pleased and yet others, who may have already retired, wonder.

We wonder if he knows what they are leaving behind, because we already know.

We know, for example, that after a lifetime of camaraderie that few experience, it will remain as a longing for those past times.

We know in the law enforcement life there is a fellowship which lasts long
after the uniforms are hung up in the back of the closet.

We know even if he throws them away, they will be on him with every step and breath that remains in his life.

We also know how the very bearing of the man speaks of what he was and in his heart still is.

These are the burdens of the job. You will still look at people suspiciously, still see what others do not see or choose to ignore and always will look at the rest of the law enforcement world with a respect for what they do; only grown in a lifetime of knowing.

Never think for one moment you are escaping from that life. You are only escaping the 'job' and merely being allowed to leave 'active' duty.

So what I wish for you is that whenever you ease into retirement, in your
heart you never forget for one moment that 'Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called children of God,' and you are still a member of the greatest fraternity the world has ever known.

Civilian Friends vs. Police Friends

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Get upset if you're too busy to talk to them for a week.
POLICE FRIENDS: Are glad to see you after years, and will happily carry on the same conversation you were having the last time you met.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Have never seen you cry.
POLICE FRIENDS: Have cried with you.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Borrow your stuff for a few days then give it back.
POLICE FRIENDS: Keep your stuff so long they forget it's yours.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Know a few things about you.
POLICE FRIENDS: Could write a book with direct quotes from you.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will leave you behind if that's what the crowd is doing.
POLICE FRIENDS: Will kick the crowds' ass that left you behind.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Are for a while.
POLICE FRIENDS: Are for life.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Have shared a few experiences...
POLICE FRIENDS: Have shared a lifetime of experiences no citizen could ever dream of...

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will take your drink away when they think you've had enough.
POLICE FRIENDS: Will look at you stumbling all over the place and say, 'You better drink the rest of that before you spill it!!' Then carry you home
safely and put you to bed...

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will talk crap to the person who talks crap about you.
POLICE FRIENDS: Will knock them the hell out for using your name in vain.
