Hopefully everythinggoes right on this mission. BTW what isthe purpose of this mission?

They are adding a "node" the space station and rearranging some parts up there, for future missions. :) Here is a diagram of what they are doing....

"Harmony" is a node that will connect other sections of the ISS from Japan and Europe.

Purpose ? NASA has a purpose ? I would think it would be on-going "research".

Just a waste of money in my opinion.

Awesome Jake!! I was hoping that you were snapping pics!!!

Good luck to the crew!

Damn I forgot it was going off.Sometimes we can see it good in naples.
Awesome shots.Would love to see one take off a little closer. How far is merritt island from titsville?

Did the blast rattle your sphincter?

Progress in space travel is not a waste of money in my opinion. We might not be able to see the benefits in our lifetime but our kids or their kids may.

We already see the benefits...cat scans and other high tech health equipment was rushed in by the Apollo missions and others...space program has indirectly saved countless lives over the last 40 yrs...

I would love to see a launch. We have talked about going but always afraid of spending money to get there and the launch gets delayed.....cool you can watch it from your back yard..:)

Why is that ? :dontknow:

Well, there are literally HUNDREDS of reasons.... You should really research it. Here are just a few cool things that help us out everyday:

•Lifeshears -- A rescue tool which quickly cuts debris to free accident victims, using the same power source used to separate Solid Rocket Boosters from the Shuttle.
•Breast Cancer Screening -- A silicon chip originally developed for NASA's Hubble Space Telescope makes the process less painful, less scarring, and less expensive than the traditional biopsy.
•Grooved Runways -- Now applied to highways, this water-draining innovation has led to an astounding 85 percent reduction in highway accidents.
•Attention Getter -- Techniques used to measure brain activity in NASA pilots are being used to improve attention spans for children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Have you ever used a cordless power drill? Yep, invented for the Apollo space program! :)

How about a "Dustbuster"? ...... That was in space first too...

Home Smoke Detectors! Honeywell invented them for NASA's SkyLab in the 70's....

Some of the best house insulation (with a thin, aluminum vapor barrier) was invented for NASA.

And, we won't even get into what satellites have done for us.... Personally, militarily, and commercially. :dontknow: ;)

...And Tempur-pedic Foam, and tankless waterheaters(sort of)!
