Took the day off and spent some quality time with the family. The Skateboarding park was packed and this was my son's 3rd time skateboarding. Here are some pics:

skateboarding takes skills...love it

When I was the Arrowhead Water man in the 80's, I had the route in Carlsbad, Ca....one of my customers was Tony Hawk... He gave me a buncha free shit for my nieces and nephews..... including an autographed T-shirt....

Was cool...... I also met that "Gator" dude was was later indicted on fkn murder charges or some shit like....

I believe Gator killed his gf. Bad ending to a gifted skater.

I was a total skater kid during the late 70's and 80's. Had many half pipes and learned all the tricks via pics in the magazines. Back then "Skateboarding Was a Crime".............for sure, totally underground. Now will the parks available, its awesome for the kids. I remember when I first read about Tony Hawk, he was like 14 years old and quite good. There is great footage on utube of lots of the old school greats, Caballero, hawk, gator, Duane Peters(master of disaster), and even Tony Alva.

Thats awesome you took your son Brad. How come he doesnt have any pads on other than the helmet? My wrist and knees still ache from all the broken bones.

Cool pics, thanks for sharing.

Spencer didn't want to have all the sissy gear. He wanted to Skateboard. I had a hard time getting Spencer to wear his helmet. He will fall and skin a few knees, elbows or maybe even break a few bones but I will be there for him and make sure he gets right back on the skateboard.

The only thing about some of the kids at the skateboard park is that they smoke. Sometimes even the green and who knows what else. It's hard seeing 10 - 20 year old kids smoking in front of you. I feel like I have to say something but I can't get myself to bud in.

There still is an underground feel to the skateboarders and It's a sport that is really popular amongst inner city kids these days.

Youth and the allure of anything illegal = Instant Outlaw..... The opiate of all minors.........

I started smoking when I was 12.... Weed at 13 (long before hippies) acid before it was illegal (15)........ That's what it means to be young..... "reckless youth", right?

Yer kid'll probably end up being as fkn straight as Django by the time he's 35..

Love him and let him live...... Besides, it's Anna that gives me reason for concern... lol. ;)

Anna will grow out of her issues but she will have permanent reminders. Spencer is a completely different kid with a great heart. I do not worry about his personality at all getting him into trouble. He is great kid with a heart of gold.

They are all your kids........ That means I know they must all have a good heart......

I have nothing but respect and appreciation for you folks, bro.....

No horseshit....

Anna is my daughter that happens to be my wife's ex husband's noteable donation to the world. I have raised Anna since she was 4 and I consider her as my own daughter. My son does have a completely different personality that is nowhere near like Anna's. Anna would be a great leader if she just channeled her focus into constructive venues. That will come with time and maturity.

Hey Brad, why didn't we see any pics of you hitting the half pipe?:D

I agree, skateboarding is for the younger ones.

Bill.

Love skating... Use to hit Kona in Jacksonville every Friday. The released a Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 for the PS2 and I would sit there and play that for days at a time! Doing all the stuff I had no business trying at the park :D

I used to do it in my younger years..... till I broke my left arm in 3 places while on a half-pipe, when to do a rail slide, and slightly mid-judged... board went up and over, and I felt backwards back into ramp....

On-lookers heard me hit, and what they though was my bone breaking....

I still mine... it sits in the shed.... and everytime I look at it... the pain in my arm comes back....:dontknow: :banghead: :nurse:

Yeah its a shame that your son feels pads are for sissys............I understand your postion though. The smoking thing is too bad too. What can you do except talk with your kid.

I helped my friend build a half pipe for his kid and before you know it I was on that thing seeing if I could still do it. At 6.2 and 218 lbs, I felt real heavy and stiff............but I still had it!! LOL
