Well I've had many grips about the tranny, the hesitation in the 1-2 back and forth shift, the sometimes starting in 2nd from a dead stop.

Well now it is taking it's sweet time going into second at WOT. It is slipping bad, also If i punch it at 30 it will slip first, but not as bad as the 1-2 slip.

Those of y'all with the bad trannies, is this what y'all saw?

Slippin tranny huh?!

Did you try adjusting your kickdown cable? Is this under light acceleration?

I had back and forth hunting. Mine was a result of a bad governor pressure solenoid.

Did you try adjusting the front kickdown band? On the outside of trans in front of the linkage. How is your 2-3 shift?

I had problems with mine with a delayed 2-3 shift after repeated WOT runs. Tech took it apart and found a spring missing on the acuator that builds pressure prior to shift. Reason for the delay geting worse after repeated runs was slipping due to heat caused by the lack of fluid and the trans just slamming into the next gear. The clutches and steel plates were smoked in a trans with 9,200 miles at the time.

Not saying this is your problem but if you still have warranty left take it to a delaer with a SRT tech or someone who knows the 48RE trans.

Sounds like mine...

My tranny made it to 42,000 miles then threw in the towel shortly after I put the Strikers on. The band was peeled right down to the rivets (there isn't a lot of material there to start with). I went with an old style band, as per Joe at Westminster trans in CA. I followed his advice to the letter, he is a wealth of information on these trannies.

Slip isn't nearly as bad with the stock pcm, BUT WHAT A DOG, OMG IT'S SLOW WITH OUT THE FLASH~!

I don't know if I should just put the stage 2 in and drive her tell she blows?

Hey y'all she is dead, if not dieing!

In slipps like mad going into second! At the 5950 shift she hangs a around 5950 for almost a second until the rpms pull down for second gear.

Also if i punch her in second the rpms jump 3,000 almost like a stall convertor. I believe she's going to the doctor today.

How long does it usually take them?

it's similar to my issue... mine just won't go into the next gear until 4K rpm's...

rottenronnie... glad you trust joe @ westminster... I still need to get my truck there... I just haven't figured that out yet :( ...

Dodge (I think) is the LAST manufacturer with an auto that still needs band adjustments, but it is an important part of maintenance to keep them alive. I had mine in for a complete fluid change and band adjustment less than a year ago.
Mine slipped badly going into 2nd a grand total of twice. At that point, the rivets had already chewed into the drum and it had to be replaced. There isn't much material on that band...
My tranny should be good for another couple of years with the new parts. (I hope).

I told them hey I brought it in 3 months ago for the sluggish second gear and the 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2 and 2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2-3-2 stifting problem and said that it needed a band adjustment. Y'all told me it was fine and I told y'all i'd be back shortly to get the transmission replaced.

So here I am:)

Not to happy to see me but, they gotta do it :)

also told me it wouldn't take to long and they gave me this

OMG IT'S SLOW. BUT IT'LL HIT A 1-2 SCRATCH!

ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER WITH THE STOCK COMPUTER BACK IN. I HAD TO DRIVE IN 1ST UNTIL 4000 THEN SHIFT TO 3RD WITH NO THROTTLE. SECOND GEAR WAS ABSOLUTELY GONE, IT WOULD JUST HIT THE REV LIMITER!

sounds like its toast to me...lolwonder what they will do with the bad tranny, will they rebuild it or replace it? keep us posted.

Bro you gotta put a sig back up.

do you have a stage 2?

If so rev the piss out of it tell she blows!

I have been SERIOUSLY thinking about doing some 4000rpm "Neutral Drops" and having them come and tow this POS.

My mom started doing that 1000 miles b4 her warranty went out on her 89 grand am. Good times.

Take her to 6000 in second let off the gas, engine brake down to 40 mph then punch it again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, the way of the future the way of the future the way of the future the way of the future the way of the future the way of the future THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE THE WAY OF THE FUTURE........................... :)
