So I was just traveling northbound on I-45 in rainy weather when I spot a maroon GT Stang driving fast in front of me. I wasn’t paying him no neverminds, just continuing on my course passing him and not caring too much about the wet freeway. I could see that he was trying to catch up and switched lanes at the same time. I didn't know what happened at the time but the next thing I knew he was facing the wrong direction and headed to the median wall real fast. Then, POW, sparks flew and so did the whole front nose of his ride. This flipped him back around in the right direction and he finally came to a stop. Needless to say his headlights were definitely not on. So there he sat in the dark and no one was stopping to help and his dark car quickly becoming smaller in my mirror. I was kind’a feeling guilty so I quickly got off the freeway and went back to where he was. Yup, just as I thought, he was still there alone. I pulled up behind him on the left shoulder and stood in the rain next to his car waiting for him to finish telling someone where he didn't know he was. I helped him to figure out where (I’m STILL soaked) and made sure he stayed calm. I was really concerned if he was hurt or not. Thank goodness he was just dazed, confused and quite a bit shook up. He was well enough to decline an ambulance ride, but his car needed more than crutches for sure. I just stayed with him until the local heat showed up. It was all a flashback from my days in law enforcement.
While I was driving away I could only think about the VTCOA family members and hoping all of you were safe somewhere tonight and not dealing with what this guy had to. And the lesson to be learned? Well, it’s just as the title suggests…. SLOW DOWN IN THE RAIN AND DON’T TRY SWITCHING LANES WHILE HITTING A PUDDLE AT 70+ mph!!!! Peace on earth folks…
