Wow the dealer is one sneaky SOB. It was smart of them but still rotten as hell. Right now I am possibly looking at a lemon car. So I won't go into details for possible legal reasons.

For my state some of the requirements for a lemon car.
1. Vehicle has been to the dealer at least 3 times for the same problem.
2. Defect must be unsafe to operate car or affect the value of the car.
3. Problem must be present within one year of purchase(which mine is).

Right now my car almost meets the above criteria.

Now for the sneaky stuff. The car has been to the dealer 3 times for the exact same problem. But on paper the dealership only shows it there one time. On one of the visits they did not do any work to the car, or left a paper trail. But kept my car for almost 2 days.

When I first brought the car in they left the invoice open and combined the two visits into one day. I have the paperwork for both visits with a different invoice date. So when push comes to shove I can prove it was there on two separate occasions.

The dealer has no idea how to fix the car. They just paid over $1600 with no results. The service tech is leaning towards lemon law, he does not think it can be fixed. So tomorrow I am going to take my car to another dealer to see if they can fix it. I will tell them everything that has been done so far and they can contact the other dealer too if needed.

To me the car can't be fixed and I have a feeling this is gonna be a long battle.

It is an 09 Dodge journey with 3300 miles and the sunroof is leaking. The water is filling up in the upper center console. That water then falls right on all the electronics in the dash. Plus the water is staining the headliner. The last trip to the dealer they replaced the headliner and whole sunroof assembly tweaked the rails to try to get a tighter seal. It leaks worse than before.

I found a Dodge Journey forum and the sunroof leaking is not an isolated case. One guy said his was fixed with a new complete sunroof. Another guy found the leak the next day he bought it and turned it back in to the dealer. And a few others that have not posted if it was fixed. But the only fix that I have read on it has been done to mine with no better results. I hope they can fix it. The car fits our family needs nicely.

the sunroof drain tubes are the problem. have had a couple of journeys in here with this issue. the tubes need to be replaced or unkinked

I believe the water is the problem here. If they could just make the water not wet anymore that would fix everything.

No but really, I thought sneaky and dealership were synoni... sinnon... synono.. :dontknow: Wwwwwwwere one and the same.

That was the first thing they did. And I am in agreement with Venom Power. The drain tubes would not be an issue if there was no water getting to them. This is not a minor leak. It is closer to a steady stream of water coming in.

I believe the drain tube is just a band aid to the problem, not a solution. Just like the our auto transmissions. The new solonoid fixes the gear hunting, but the causes seems to be the clutch material plugging them up causing them to go bad.

TheMoparConnection- any other ideas on how to fix it?

all the journeys i have seen with a leak have been journeys with a sunroof due to drain tube issues.

whats your email I'll send you a tech note on sunroof water leaks for journeys
that dealer may not have.

Car is going to another service department for the next round of repairs. Mainly because the first one is out of options. It will be going in on the 13th when I get back from vacation.

Before Chrysler will lemon law it, a tech rep from chrysler will be sent out to try and fix it. We had a jeep patriot in our shop about a year ago with the sunroof leaking. We replaced the glass and it still leaked, I was looking real close at it one day and guess what, the hole in the top of the car was too big:p :p I thought it was funny as hell but the tech rep didnt. that vehicle was lemon lawed. Hope this helps. :)

Lol, Antnee, you're too much. Obviously he got a car that was suppose to be shipped to Arizona or some other place they never get rain. :D

Good luck getting it fixed.

The mechanic is kinda leaning this way too. The bodyshop guy had a real drastic suggestion if the new sunroof did not fix it. He said he could cut the roof off and replace it with a new roof:argh: :ahhhhh:

I would bet we don't get much more moisture than AZ. But the car only has 3300 miles and should not leak how it does. TheMoparConnection has seen a few Journey's that leak and he was able to fix them. So not all is lost at this time.

No kidding there. Hell if they want to spend that kind of money they should turn it into a convertible:rock:

Just shot some vids of the bastard. First one is showing it dripping and this was only the low pressure pre soak cycle. About 23 seconds left you can see a wave of water coming from the sprayer. For some reason it would not stay focused. The second vid is shorter and you can clearly see the water coming in. I could not get a good view of the other side(front of sunroof) but it was leaking too.

That is bad...I dont like sun roofs for 2 reasons..1..I never would use it...had one on my former SRT8 and only openned it twice..just to see if it worked...2..they are a leak waiting to happen..now, next week, 8 yrs...its gonna happen...
