Finally got to run the El Camino, after last Friday's effort was halted by dead batteries.

First pass was a 14 second run. When I released the trans brake, I just sat there. So I shift into high gear, and it takes off just after. On the return, I happened to notice that somehow a second had been entered into the delay box. Doh!

Second pass went much better, running a mid 11.

Third pass...HOLY CRAP! Left on the trans brake at about 5000rpm, pulled the front wheels up, and hauled ass! Unfortunately, I had to report to the principal's office after the run. Seems I ran a 9.91 at 136mph.:D

That was just a rush. It just might be worth getting a few more safety items to do that again, but it also means getting an 8.50 license. At least the car's pretty well set. Just have to figure out how to go about getting that license...

Woulda beem cool to see that on Vid...:( I've always loved el Caminos.

Congrats Dude!!

Very Cool

NHRA license is a piece of cake, the only thing aggravating about it is the Doctors form showing you have had a recent physical. (I signed a fictitous Dr. name to mine)

Imagine what it can do when he learns how to set it up and drive it.:)

And Eric, that was not meant to be a negative comment.

This car has a multitude of suspension, engine, and other setups that you have to learn to adjust for changing track and weather conditions.

You need to start a log and track your information so you can see what happens when you make changes.

Hopefully Jack will step in here and give you some advice. He is much more knowledgeable than I am on this.

Once again, congratulations.

No doubt!:D It was no moon shot launch, just got the fronts off. I was still working out the launch rpm on the trans brake.;)

Thanks, and no offense taken, John. I'm just getting started, and have almost everything yet to learn.

Fortunately this car seems to be dialed in nicely. It hooks hard, launches straight, and feels planted at speed. I'm not going to touch a thing until I know what it is that could use improvement. Getting down the track is such a rush that it's enough to do it safely, and start working on consistency.

They were doing licensing runs at the track yesterday, so I'm in luck there. Just need to take care of the car's cert, and the safety clothing.

Hope you have a lot of safe fun with the car Eric.

Won't be able to see you run this year, but keep me in mind next year and post a note when you are going to run. I will come on over to your side of the water and watch.

Now this also raises the question. When will the truck be together????:dontknow:

Thanks. I should be able to legally run 9's then.:p

Just about everything is hinging on Boomer at this point. He's building a fuel system (from cell to injectors), as well as bunch of other stuff. Once that stuff's back, it shouldn't take much longer.

Congrats Eric. That run must have been something.

Can you run the car anymore this year, or does the license shut you down?

If you can run, I will meet you there next time. I just hope to have the new tunes from PBJ by then.
