Alright so I'm talking with my roomate and I'm saying to her how it'd be nice to find a parking lot somewhere that I could burn out and do doughnuts in without being arrested. Her response was along the lines of implying the truck would flip over... Now... when I had my hemi (also quad cab, and the suspension was an inch higher I think) I spun out going 90 on dry roads (lets just say I was avoiding a deer) and did a good 540 and then some before coming to a stop...no roll.. and I've also seen countless vidoes of sliding and drifting around in these trucks... Can I get some feedback so I can either bring her in and say "Look! See?? I told you." either that or put my foot in my mouth. But come on, these trucks are not going to flip over, yeah?

bro look at Ntworks sig.line shows him doing a doughnut with out flipping over just show that to her.

Anything can flip over.......

But roll overs don't happen as often when yer traveling fairly slow and smoking yer rear tires.........

That's a simple .02...........

I don't have any concrete evidence but I think it's not very likely to roll over. It would take a lot of sideways movement with a sudden stop (curb) to cause a rollover. I don't believe our trucks are more top heavy than a SUV. They have been known to roll over taking a cloverleaf at too high a speed. Our trucks were built to handle that. So improbable but not impossible.

to get a ~5500 truck to even lift it's side wheels let alone roll would take a LOT of momentum... even if you hit your brakes in the middle of a donut you're not going to lift the tires.

Now if you're on let's say an ATV, same principle... as long as you're spinning the tires, have momentum and are leaning into the turn, you're not going to flip... hit the brakes however the momentum WILL flip you over (because you're dealing with a lot less weight) like 5000 less .

Basically what I'm getting at is you'd need to be travelling 10x the speed to get your truck to flip (obviously there's more to the equation than that..such as the width of the car... but I'd guesstimate that if you're going ~80 turned the wheel hard and hit the brakes... the chances of it lifting off the ground would increase... the faster you're going the higher your chances of flipping are...

tell your roomate she needs to goback to high school and take physics over again :p

I remember doing donuts in my dads oldsmobile (in reverse... why?? because it was front wheel drive) <EG>

Hell, I roll mine every day on the way home from work.:(

But then I'm drunk and really don't know what I'm doing.

Oh screw it. This doesn't even deserve a real answer. Tell her this is the 21st century and we are no longer driving model T's.

God damn it. I had to go back and edit this to tell you that indeed, you are retarded for listening to her.;) :D

Oh trust me, I'm not listening, I just wanted to point and say "ha ha" we constantly harrass one another and this is a golden opportunity :D

Tell her to put her arms out and then sling her accross the floor, if she does barrel rolls you lose... of win depending on your point of view.

You could spin your truck out at 80 mph on the interstate and not flip provided you didn't end up in the bumpy median. Outside of very top heavy vehicles the tires break loose and skid before they can exert enough force to flip a vehicle. Most of the SUV's didn't flip on the first skid, it was the swing back in the opposite direction which has 3 times the momentum plus an extreme weight shift. Slamming into a curb could cause a flip however.

I put a 6" lifted F250 diesel into a skid at 70 to miss a deer and didn't even come close to flipping.

I wish I had some video of my Bro and me at the Inaugural SRT Experience !!!At the end of the day he got to ride with the Pro Driver whos specialty was Drifting !!!Everytime they got to a corner,up in smoke !!!My Bro got out of the truck with this Big Ole Shitt eatin grin, and his first words were "WOW,I didn't know my truck could do that" !!!!:burnout:

You will not flip... Ive seen some lifted trucks do donuts and not flip.

some woman don't know physics apparently. My mom freaked out and thought I was going to roll my Scion XA (which is lowered with sticky 18 in tires on it) just because I took a right turn at 40 mpg. it doesn't even squeel the tires. and it sure as hell isn't heavy enough to roll over!

I think you could possibly get the set-10 to roll over under the right circumstances but definitely not doing a donut.
