Spark plug poped out, believe thread is gone

Finally got it done today. Ended up doing the helicoil, Actually my mechanic did for a grand total of $140 inculding the kit. Oh, and 40 for a tow there. He did it with out taking the head off. So far, so good.

done several furds & never pulled a head:rock:
 
I've known people to have all spark plug threads replaced with heli-coils when the heads are new.

How did your mechanic keep the heli-coil in? The units I have put in had a special tool that allowed you to drill the insert/head mating area and insert a pin to keep the insert from moving or screwing out the next time the plug is removed.
