Well due to my love of arguments;) lets jsut look at this subject for a moment shall we.

Racing on the street good? bad?

Driving at high speeds good? bad?

Driving recklessly good? Bad?

I have noticed alot of people saying speeding on the highway is a terrible thing, or that bumping off with another vehicle and running up to 100mph or so is dangerous.

Well it may be BUT

I also know of alot of members on here that have done that very thing,, and then turn around and say its bad. hhhhhmmmmm
Lets do say that speeding on a public highway should be done in the right place and time.
but tell the truth....

how many have done the "lets see what she'll do" thing?

how many have jumped on another truck or car "jsut for fun"?

how many actually drive the speed limit in a 35zone or a 70 zone?

Please dont say you dont speed. 98% of the country speeds , I see it every day! The average used to be 5mph over, now its around 12mph over on the east side. Very very very few can say they actually drive legal, and I applaud those that do.
but how bad would it hurt at 80mph compared to 150mph?
bout the same I figure.

Now racing on the street, thats a good one.
If you know where you are at , and the area, should you do it?
Weeellllll how many actually have? answer ....most of us! Even if its a minivan, it jsut dont matter, we need to show our power. I know I do.

driving recklessly? Burnouts? chirping tires? fast thru a curve?
We all do this , common now! thats why we bought the trucks!
I know of some personally that have driven dangerously and still speak out about other people being dangerous, hhhhmmmm

And have ya done it with a passenger? Of course! Who else we gonna show off too? Kids is a different subject though, we try to be more mature right?
WRONG! How many times has son said "kick it daddy!" or " do a burnout"?
If people were honest , i would say quit often.

Guys lets not kill someones post just because they went fast, or outrun a ford focus on the highway, most of you do the same thing, I know I do, I know its dangerous, I would never want to hurt another human being and try to use good common sense and judgment, but it happens.

And truth be know, if you are reading this, you have done at least one ofthe above, so next time before you step on someones good time, think about what you do yourself before you post, I know i will.

let the fights begin, oh and as soon as it gets out of hand move this thread to offensive.

oh and good night guys , I'm going to bed now, so kick my butt while i'm asleep :D i'lll kick ya'll in the testicles in the morning:D

Yeah, what he said. I know I already got in trouble over this and pokin fun at people's age, (sorry again Jack), but this is an enthusiast site. To expect enthusiasts to keep quiet about punching the gas would be like going onto the SmartCar forum and telling the guys there they can't compare mileage!! I never, ever, ever drive the speed limit. I pass cops at ten over. I make turns way too fast. I brake the tires loose. I drag race from stoplight to stoplight!!! I do donuts in the JiffyLube parking lot (at the behest of the manager). I follow too closely. I turn my passenger side airbag off, only because there is no switch to turn off the driver side!! I put people in danger every time I am behind the wheel, but no more so than the idiot in the minivan next to me with three screaming kids swerving all over the place!! All kinds of people drive stupid in all kinds of different ways. I drive faster than average. I am always aware of my surroundings and alert to what other drivers on the road are doing. Just because you can measure my dangerous activity with a radar gun does not mean I am being any more dangerous than the idiot who just changed lanes without looking. I look. Or the girl who has her rear-view mirror pointed at herself. My points rearward. Or the family who are more concerned with what little Billy did in the back seat than staying in their own lane. I stay between the lines.

So, what is more safe, the speeding driver who blasts it out every once in a while while no one else is around. Or the schmuck or family of schmucks who can't even travel in a straight line in traffic, but drive a Grand Caravan at the speed limit. Or the girl who would rather look at herself than at the traffic coming up behind her. Yes folks, the world is a dangerous place....and it ain't getting any safer with airbags and SmartCars. I drive fast but predictable. I don't bob and weave. I signal before I change lanes. I wear my seatbelt, and I have my mirrors adjusted properly. Sorry, my blast up to 135MPH next to another guy in a Jag doing the same thing (on the freeway) with no other cars around is way.....yes I said it, waaaaaaay safer than what many of the idiots driving at the speed limit do.

I don't know about where anyone else lives, but people driving right at the speed limit around here usually fall into a few categories....the elderly....the drunk....the lost....the otherwise preoccupied. I try to stay away from all four, by passing them at the first possible chance. In front of them means I am not left in their wake of destruction when catastrophe happens.

I never speed.:p :D Here in Cali we have higher speed limits for example the San Diego fwy I never go over the posted speed limit 405 there are a few other fwy's that post high speeds 605, 105, and 110.:D

This is 20 years ago but a true story. One of my dads friends moved here from Japan and got stopped doing 97 on the fwy. Well the cop naturally told him he was speeding. So he told the cop that he wasn't speeding and that he thought that the speed limit was 101. Well he was on the 101 fwy and the cop gave him a warning and let him go.:D

Light 'em up & Wind 'em up boys!! (and girls!)
Honestly, I could care less what y'all do.
But if you DO wreck, try not to hurt anyone, eh?! Especially anyone I know. I've lost too many close friends and family already...

I will admit that I usually drive 10 to 15 MPH over the limit, except in school zones or construction zones. I will do a 2 gear run against another vehicle on the road if traffic is clear. I might hit 100 Mph once every other year, and then out in open country. Just so everyone knows, our own NHTSA did a study back in the 90s and found speed limits are about 10 MPH lower than they should be, because of revenue purposes. I have had guys (mostly young guys in Camaros of Mustangs) want to run me in traffic, I just laugh at them and continue on my way. Damn I am getting long winded.

Bill.

Well said!

I also drive 10-15 above the limit, but I don't criticize anyone who does the same. I can't stand the idiots that drive recklessly, and here in Orlando they are on every corner, straightaway and stop sign! Trying to stay away from them means that sometimes I am "forced" to scoot past them, but I rarely if ever go over 100, too many stop lights. ;) And the locals here, me included, stay away from the tourist crowded interstates, which limits my opportunities to go real fast.

But again, I try not to point the finger at others because there's always three pointing back at me!

I run about 5 to 10 over on the interstate, locally I stay right on the limit because they love radar in the smaller towns around the Metro area. As far as racing, I don't take the chances I used to, older and wiser I guess, but I won't back down from a challenge with open road ahead.

Very well said guys and honest also, but no fights yet? Common somon wants to b the instigator...Prof?

But we still trash the guys that post a great kill , or say " man this thing gets to 120mph quick!"

common man up! I still would like to se both sides, but remember we are friends here so no name calling, accept what evryone says.:D

My best example is set on the side of the interstate I-75 in Ky or I-40 in Tn on Sunday afternooon about 1 pm and wait.........wait......wait...... there they come! The Minivans! the loads of families with moms and kids goin at least 20mph over the limit of 70mph so they can get back home from their weekend fun, and nothing nothing will stand in their way! I know everyone has seen them, they come in fleets hoggin the hammer lane runnin 90mph down the interstate.

What about these kids safety?

Anyone that speeds, races, even chirps the tires should be drawn and quartered.

There, are you happy now Stinker.;) :D

Actually speed does not kill. It's the people that are not paying attention to what they are doing that causes accidents. Still, speeding and racing on crowded streets is dangerous and should be avoided. And yes, I did those things when I was young and I will very seldom criticize those that do it now.

Be safe everyone.
