Another way to tell what gears you have, and you don't have to take the cover off for this either. Is to spin one wheel one full turn while having someone else count the how many times the driveshaft goes around. If it goes around 4 and half times plus a little its a 4:56.Wifey said:The number of teeth should be stamped on the ring and the pinion, just use simple division to fiqure your ratio, or just count them then divide![]()

Sounds to me like they just told you this to buy themselves some time. YOu need to take a ride down to there shop.wyoramsrt-10 said:It just seems odd that the shop sent out the carrier to press in the side gears (I think that is what they said). When I first talked to them they looked it up on the computer to make sure they did not need any special tools and then they told me they would have to send it out of town to do some of the work.
Most tags are missing. Especially on older cars. Smarty pants.Wifey said:Or you could just look at the tag on the coverthen call your dealer if you can't fiqure it out

To me that just shows how to change out the axles. If I read that right. From what I saw at the shop it kinda looked like the side or drive gears were pressed in the carrier:dontknow: They had all the guts out of the pumpkin.Wifey said:Here, from the book
