I started my lowering of my 06 tonight and I may have screwed up. I started on the back and while I had the rear springs off, I decided to install my Calvert traction bars too. I removed the stock slapper bar as it said to do in the directions and then I decided to remove the next leaf as well. I put every thing back together with the 2" lowering blocks and I'm still using the stock shocks. When I put it back on the ground it looks good in the back, but it is only a 1/2" from hitting the stock rear bump stops. Did I mess up? Should it be that low? I'm 11" from the ground to the front edge of the rear fender opening at the bottom. I have about 2 1/2" to 3" from the top of the rear tire to the inside of the top of the rear fender opening. The truck does sit at a little lower than level. I started the front 1" drop, but I won't have that done till Monday night. Any ADVICE WILL BE VERY HELPFUL.

Im pretty sure the instructions say to cut off piece off of the bump stop. 1" i think might be 1 1/2 but cant remember.

I did not have my instructions yet, I am kinda of working w/o a net here. My x-metal kit has not arrived, so I started with what I had so I could compare the low buck kit to x-metal with photos and all since it seems to be such a touchy subject on the forum. Thanks for the info

I'm not certain on the rear but on the front you definately have to cut off the stock bump stops.....i think it may be the same for the rear??

Why did you take off the extra leaf ? The bottom slapper has to me removed but none of the others :dontknow:

The old directions used to say to cut 1/2" - 3/4" off of the rear bump stops.

Although, I dont recall seeing that step on the latest instructions ;)

one of my friends with a 05 had removed the two leafs instead of the one because it softened up the ride he said. We don't tow with it, so it seemed logical. But I'm not sure, I'll have to see after I finish the front and actually drive it.
