Hey amtrucker, thanks for the review on the kit. Your truck looks outstanding! It's got the perfect ride height nailed. I'm with you on liking the slight rake--gives it a good stance. More of a performance look than a low rider look.:burnout:

I drive it really slow over bumps. The ride is stiffer but not any more than I would expect (my wife's escalade is lowered). It takes corners well (accelerating onto the I10 on ramp). Love the looks and I think everyone else that I have shown loves it too.

Just understand that the truck is lowered and is going feel a little different...

Stinkers customer service is great!!! I called him pretty late at night and he still answered the phone... He called to check up on me at 2:30 in the morning also.

For anyone with kids... My 4 year old climbs in and out without any problems now (<-- this could be a selling point to the wife). Also I would not get a triple pillar gauge pod because I used my handle to climb in with (not to screw up the bolster). Now I can slide right in without any handle assistance.

You may have to play around with the height of the front bump stops. The front tires may rub the wheel liners at highway speeds if you hit a decent dip in the road. I'm running 24x10's with 305/35/24 tires.

Reviving an old thread...

The truck looks outstanding. I have the same type of rake on my L, and I love it. The front of your truck at 7" off the ground is 2" higher than what I'm used to in my "other" truck, so that won't be a problem for me.

But on Stinker's website, there is an installation comment about the rear needing some "welding, that should be done by a professional." What is that about?

I've installed a number of lowering kits on cars, and done two trucks. What is involved in this install? I can't weld, nor do I have the tools, and I'm certainly not going to tackle my first welding job on something this important.

A simiple install explanation would be helpful.

Also, where did you get the black wheels? Are they OEM Nighrunner wheels? I think they would look excellent on silver.

I have Stinkers kit, and my front fender liner has never hit the tire; unlike my previous drop kit. And ditto on being family friendly. With a wife that's 5'3", and two small kids, the truck is now much easier for all three to get in and out.

yessir , alot of the flip kits out there actually us a couple of bolts to hold in the rear axle flip system.

In other words you put the springs under the axle , use a new plate, and an upper plate and ''bolt'' them together. on those I have seen them twist up, and break alot of stuff including driveshafts.

the one in my kit actually gives you a new spring perch, it "can" be driven like that........BUT........it needs to be welded to handle the hp of our trucks.

I dont reccomend leaving it not welded

Is the stock perch/plate welded? If so, it seems like it would have to be cut off to be removed.

Could I install it, get it all bolted/torqued down properly, and then take it to a welding/muffler shop to do the welding?

I agree with the others that feel the truck is really high stock, but I'm used to a lowered (but not slammed) truck.
