Stock t-56 or TH400? NEED ADVICE!!

The 4l80e is the overdrive version of the TH400, not the 4l60e. That overdrive will not survive 1000+ hp. The best answer is a gear vendors behind a TH400. While they normally only say they're good for 1200hp, they will work on the line pressure to handle more.

Rough cost is $7800 for a fully built TH400 to handle 1500hp, gear vendors, custom converter. Plus the adapter, I don't have a price on that yet, still working on it. Compare this to $7000 for a fully built Suncoast with all the goodies and converter but still not manual valve body, no transbrake, and I wouldn't trust it beyond 1000hp. I'll be selling a brand new Suncoast just like that VERY soon.
