Stock tire question

Hello all,

Hopefully getting my 04 RC on Monday, only has 15K miles. My question is about the tires, they have good tread on them with the low miles, but they are also close to 10 years old. Are tires this old ok? or should I look at replacing them. If I get new tires, what brands are best for this type of truck?

Ditch em as soon as you can. The BFGoodrich KDW's are where it's at and they are 792 for a set.

Definitely not. 10 years is way too old and dry rotted. Better take off at least $750 for a set of tires.

I saw the BFG's at Tire Rack, I think that will be my first stop after picking up the truck. Just another unplanned expense, might have to wait on the exhaust set up, lol

TOYO Proxes ST-II's are another great one, check them out too. These are the same 2 choices I have narrowed down too also.

Mine had the factory tires on it, with 14k miles, in 2011. The wouldn't hook up at any speed in first or second gear. Overall, they were a lot of fun

I would replace immediately after doing one helluva burnout. :burnout:

Check the sides for miniature cracks and dry rot 1st. If they look okay, burn some rubber and then ditch. Unless it was in an air conditioned garage on carpet, they are toast.

At least do some massive burnouts and video tape it for us before you put the tires on. It's kind of law that you do.

Strictly a DD I use Goodyear Fortera in 305/45/22. Super for my type of driving, mostly highway at 70-90 mph. Love them in the rain (yes I get caught in the rain and yes it rains in Texas), haven't tried burn out as I don't do that but off the line they do all my truck can handle or at least that what it seems to me. I like the 45 vs. the 40 as it seems to be a little softer ride. My 2 cents worth
