They blew up every engine they were in...........and in some cases they blew up the replacement engine.

it also shouldnt bounce like it does extreme ups and downs. if i can get a scanner ill post my dyno runs. smooth as a babys ass single turbo :) yes we cut back a LOT of power, and i mean a LOT but.... i ended up with a extremely safe very smooth curve and it did not drop until around 5400. i shift at 5500 anyway so it did not matter. hopefully soon i can piece more piping together and sell my old kit :D :D. the new one im getting is boosted already so soon there will be parts for sale XD
 
None taken Stinker, I am a great fan of yours.
Mine fell off due to the use of a stock cam, stock heads, and stock manifolds. If you look in my driveway, you'll see the truck is here again, for those very changes. 11.30's with stock breathing parts was the best I could do with this "Brick". That changes this month.

As for the Paxton, and the fueling system, it is a piggyback, the worst way to enrichen through a manifold designed to deliver air, not fuel. The PMap retains the stock WOT timers, causing the lean condition in every single dyno they have, or I had from them.

Mr Got rid of your Hemi---stop taking it personally, you did not design the Paxton setup. Forge your engine, install a SCT with a 2bar MAP and the correct injectors, then you will have a chance of outrunning a STS turbo that makes full boost at 3000 rpm, unlike a Paxton that makes it 3000rpm later.

And just to set the record straight, I have had only 1 STS failure period. Ain't no way I would run one over 5 psi on a stock bottom end though.

Everything can be made to work...there are always details that just demand attention...some dedicated people here have addressed some vexing problems and been successful. As a group we usually stay pretty positive and eventually find ways to overcome some of our issues. Remember these are hot rod trucks, there are going to be issues...thankfully we have some experts that know how to diagnose and solve problems...it is just a matter of time for every problem.

Grab a bag of Oreo's and a big glass of milk and enjoy the process.

Prof, Thank's for jumping in, I have been studying the different FI options and pretty much have decided to go with the STS. It appears to me that(properly installed and tuned) it will provide the best and most "bang for the buck."

Going with the STS is a gutsy move...Marty seems to be the only successful tuner. If you go in that direction, be sure he is your wrench. For sure going forged first will greatly increase the chance for success.

With the stock STS 76 you're going to make 1000WHP, no other power adders?

What turbo's for the twins?

When will it make full boost with the twin STS style turbo's?

Will these setups lose 30% + horsepower/torque after 4500 RPM?

Why do paxtons and front mount turbos make good power past 5K (with stock heads/cam) and an sts like the sheet stinker posted peaks at low 4000's and drops like a stone afterwards?

Why would you want to make the powerband of a vehicle so narrow? At the top of 4th on drag radials im going through at about 5500 (on N20), that would be about 450WHP and WTQ with the forged engine turbo dyno you posted, which is almost identical to my stock with bolt-ons only #'s.

also why is the power band so radical up and down after 4500 rpm's with the sts? that is HORROR on bearings and rods :/


I am hoping it was not tuned after 4500 because any tuner knows that kind of tune will destroy a engine....

Again, not bashing at
all just think we should know...

With that 750 tune, full weight and 30" tall slicks I posted 11.3 at 126, why do I have to spin my combo to 6000rpm?

If I can run those times and keep the shift point below 5500, then I have zero oiling issues to concern myself with. You build for torque and the hp will fall right into place.

Not going to detail you on the twin till I run it at Speedworld. If you must have 5000-6000, you need to run a larger y-pipe before the T-76 to keep the backpressure lower.

I am sure with only 900 rear wheel, I will run 10.9o's all safe on the STS system. Sit back and simply watch....:rock:
 
Well, lots of responses thats good. This site is really helping me plan my build. Still don't know the type of boost I'll be going with, but at least the motor will be forged. However, I most likely will stay with a stock compression ratio, but wonder if lower compression would be a smart move.
