Have no idea. But thats usually the first excuse a company gives when a product doesn't perform as promised and they won't take any responsibility. Again, good luck getting them to take back your system.

Dale (TinyGiants) is correct. I have posted numerous times on the subject and really do not feel like doing it again.

Do a search on STS and you will find 42 threads related to the subject. If by chance you do not find what you are looking for, be specific in your question and I will attempt to answer it.

As Dale said, I am an engineer, but I have also played with vehicles since I was a kid, including some turbocharged ones. Last one was a 2.6L that put out 450HP at 40 pounds of boost.

In the boosted world Mike, Good tune = Zoom; Bad tune = Boom, even with the best of equipment.

I think STS has major design problems with this product. Good luck in addressing the issue with them. I have heard of one person here getting their purchase price back...do a search it seems to me that it was mentioned in the last two or three months here.

But my bet is that STS will claim that you did not have it tuned correctly...

If you are going to continue to stay in the boosted world...maybe you should become a Nurse Practitioner! Or hell, just take over a hospital and become the administrator. The best hospital I ever worked at was run by an RN (Sister Mary Clare Hughes).

Maybe they (STS) will take it back ? Worth a try. Might lose a few bucks, but still cheaper than a new engine.

I would not even consider trying to make it work if it were my truck.

i think my boost days are done for a while till my bank acct. says other wise. I think i need a new profession to live boosted. I guess i will stick to the speed of my yamaha r1, for what i paid for the turbo i could of had another bike but i guess this is one of those things where you live and learn

Mike if really want to keep your sts you will need to buy a vec 3 with bigger injectors but that still no garauntee it will work properly. My sts is still holding together but I'm not comfortable with driving hard ,and don't expect any help from sean at roe racing or for that matter any tuner. If you keep it you will be on your own becuase i have talked with sts tech support for hours and they just have no experince with these motors. I feel yor pain man

Many of us have been there. Your experience will be very valuable to others in the future...small consolation...

Welcome to the VTCOA...we will try keep your future mistakes to a minimum.

Sorry to hear about your situation Mike. I can offer you advice, if you want to keep the sts you should get a vec 3 and bigger injectors but that is no garuante it will protect your motor. I have been trying to make my sts work but unforuntly nobody is of any help especially sts tech support ,don't even get me started with them. If you deceide to keep it you will be on your own and your hp increase will be minimal with a safe tune. So with that said buy a roe supercharger

Sounds like a plan.
So here is the way to move forward. Make a end goal. Then mod and upgrade that path. That way you do not buy somethings twice (i.e. cold air intake when you will be boosting). Find a tuner you can trust, and follow their advice. After all, the system is only as good as the tune. Not all tuners like all systems.

Good Luck

after thinking about things i am thinking about taking it off and trading it on a grandcherokee srt8. that will help me eat a little of this loss

Great ride! You will not regret getting away from the STS.

STS, oh the STS. Where do I begin?

I will just cover a few points that have been brought up.
The over-boost issue was a problem. It had to do with where the waste gates were referencing the boost from. That problem has been fixed. The extra injectors that came with the kit were not sufficient and it was a poor design. The extra injectors had to spray into the piping, go around a 90 uphill turn and then spread throughout 10 cylinders. If one of those cylinders does not get the right amount of fuel (#3), then it fails. This is why STS no longer gives the injectors or a fuel management device. Rick Squire (Owner of STS) said that they now recommend going with larger injectors and a better management system (such as the VEC 3).

So now the over-boost and fuel problems have been taking care of. But tuning is critical. Now that being said, I still would not recommend this system to anyone. I feel sorry for Mike for getting one, but I do understand the urge to want to make it work. Which is what I have done. I have over 25K miles on my truck with the STS. I did have an issue a while back with the #3. But that was prior to the fuel upgrades. I have my theory on what happened but won't get into that now. Anyway I'm trading PM's with Mike to help him out.

Sounds like you finally got your STS to work dependably, hopefully Mike will understand how and make his system work also.

Can I ask what kind of performance numbers you're getting?

Thanks,

Mike

get rid of the sts and build the motor, N/A is the only way to go anyway, If you want FI than buy a L, alot cheaper to mod and make faster,,,,,,,,,the viper 10 cylinder was made to be N/A in my book,,,,, but what do I know I am just a sell out:)

Think of your STS purchase as a trip to Vegas..............you lost 10k.....dont try to win it back.... Maybe STS will refund some of your cash back..........even if they dont, its not worth it to use the system. Your engine will blow............Smokes is the real exception here.

Good luck to you with whatever you end up doing.

i think once someone puts a wideband and an EGT gauge in each and every cylinder during the tuning, the sts can be tuned properly. im glad my race engine only had 4 cylinders because widebands are expensive! I tune 2 at a time though cuz im a cheap bastard!

good luck on the sts, i'm still a firm believer that turbos are the way to go for applications of 12+ psi. if you're going to run low boost, forget it.

You are so cheap, you even gave me the Mofo headers for free.:D

I think that they have already bought some of them back, haven't they ?

That would be my best advice, get them to buy it back, even some cash back is better than none.

give em enough hell and they should buy it back. everyone knows its a bad system. scotty is lucky to have his still running. been giving him headaches for a while now.
