After my 30 day tag expires, I'll be required to have a front plate on my new 2006 SRT-10. I know it sucks, but I've been ticketed in the past for not having a front plate here in Ohio so I will just give in to "the man" and at least be legal on this count.

Anyways, I've checked previous threads and they mentioned there were factory "spots" to drill, however, I checked the front of my truck carefully and I don't see anything that looks like starter points.

Any suggestions? Photos would also be helpful if possible. Thanks in advance!

Also, where is a good place to purchase a front plate bracket? Will any Dodge Ram front bracket work fine?

IMHO don't do it. We have a front plate law here too. Just pay 'em if they write you for it. If you feel you have to the front plate bracket should have been in a bag in the truck if you bought it new (look under the back seat if you have a QC or in the storage bin behind the front seat on a RC). If not, it's specific to the SRT-10 I think. Anyway you can have mine for the cost of shipping if you want.

Do you have a 05 or 06. On the 05 there are three tiny little dimples. One is the middle of the lower valance bar and the other two are lower and to the side. I got my bracket from dodge. I had to put one on after they pulled me over. No ticket but enough to piss me off. And it is a metal bracket not the plastic one for the regular trucks.

It's the law here too. I have mine in the front window. No troubles after almost 2 years.

I would not use the bracket if I was you. They are flat out ugly in my opinion.

I really don't WANT to use it.. however, based on my prior experience in this area of Ohio, as well as funding the OSP coffer a few times for ridiculous violations, I don't think it's an option. Around here, it seems like they will pull you over and write a ticket for just about anything if you are driving something other than a Ford Windstar.

Tried to get away with putting it in the front window but the cop said it had to be on the front bumper no exceptions, and yeah the bracket is just fugly.

Another option you might want to look at is slipping it between the grill and the black plastic deflector behind the grill. I know a few people have done that. Not as good looking as no plate, but it's better than the bracket in my opinion.

Mine had a mounting plate when i bought her in missouri but luckly i live in az and dont need it. Truck is black so you cant notice the holes..

Or you can try Wifey....she has to have a few of them somewhere in between her thousand wings:D .

2 years and never got stopped for front plate. If anything, keep the damage minimal and zip-tie the plate to the plastic mesh / diamonds.

Hi there,

I know what you mean about the fron tag. Just replaced the 30 temp tags this week on my '06. I can't find the dimples either. I'll get you the part number later for the front bracket kit (Mopar parts doesn't list it). I'm run ning without currently. It's only a matter of time until I'll pay for it, but I HATE front tags!

Mine had the bracket in place. They removed it and repainted the spoiler.

Here it is. Mopar Kit numer 05030022AA. This came from the kit package that came with my truck. It can be ordered, but is expensive. It's a simple stamped sheet metal design. BTW, mine was delivered in the compartment under the rear seat. Hope this helps.

What if you were ot have a decal place take a photo of your tag and make a decal that was sized to fit right on the bumper!!:dontknow:
Just a thought!!:p

I have had several cars over the past 15 years without front plates with only 1 ticket.

I know one person that clipped it to the sunvisor. Then if a cop were to pull out or pull a U they would just flip the visor down. Ohio law states a front plate must be displayed, so as long as it is displayed from the front view of the truck you have complied with Ohio law.

I also agree about mounting it on the truck and the black mesh. If you have to cut the plate down a bit and just use some kind of zip ties and attach to the black mesh on the bumper.

In most states, the reg plates are state property and mutalating such plates is a violation in it of itself. If you gotta stick it on, then you gotta do, no bigey. TIs not to hard to het the bumber touched up if you need to remove the bracket. Its about the same cost of the ticket for not having a plate here in CT. All such violations start at $93.
