Suggestions for mounting a front plate (arrggh) on my new SRT-10

That's so dumb it's not even funny.

And, "headlights too bright"? Ummm...was he carrying a light meter or something?

In a case like yours, I *would* go to court. Just so the judge could publicly humilate and/or reprimand the officer.

lights too bright cause they are blueish cause of h.i.d.s

42 in a 40 is speeding i have an attorney on it. i work with an ex-cop whom i have known since i was 19 and he brought me the tx dot book.

tails can not inhibit the red. headlights can only be white. speed limit is 40. that is the limit anythig over is speeding.

i pissed him off so i called my attorney. who happens to be a fan of our trucks.

he represented me and got me off for a prior for speeding 65 in a 30 for $50.

it helps to have connections.

I would try the window first then if you find trouble....I would just mount it. Like Red and Kalani and others said, once you mount it, you get use to it and its not so bad.

Of course I am supposed to have it too, but I still have it in the envelope it was mailed in behind my front seat. So far so good.

There are several types of "white" when it comes to light. The arc from the xenon gasses in the HID lights produce a much more white light (less yellow). Check out a Kelvin Scale for reference.

If he charged you, he'd have to impound every 2007 BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, etc. They all run HID lamps.

so does that make my truck faster without the front plate drag?

Exactly what I was talking about. I'm not saying any officer has a right to be an ass to you like this guy was. What I am saying is why put yourself in the position to start with.

If I would have had the option of not running the plate (it was already installed when I bought the truck) I would probably have ran without it until I got pulled over for it. At which time I would have paid the ticket and then mounted the plate like I am supposed to.

Good luck with your tickets. Hopefully the lawyer can do his thing and get you off lightly.

EXACTLY!!! Officers that overstep their bounds needs to be put in their place.

BMWs have these going back to 2002 (maybe further) my parents have a 2002 540i, and it has the "halo" HIDs as well.

I took my friend out for a ride in the truck one day here in my little town of 1260 population. We don't even have a police department here. It is county and we have sherrifs patrol around. They always sit in town. We have one stop sign. I stop then go through the intersection. I did not burn any rubber, but I did goose it and lift the front end a little. Then I see the cop sitting on the side of the road. I roll on by him not speeding at all. Then the dick pulles me over for nothing more than my front plate. What a dick. He asks for my license and if i have insurance.LOL I said yes. He goes to his car calls me in for warrants or whatever then comes back and asks me wheres the license plate. I say right here in the side of the pass door. He gives me fix it ticket, and tells me if he has to have it on his new Nissan truck then I have to have it. What a dick! I had my cop friend sign it off for me and I sent in my 10 bucks. I'm still driving around without it. I refuse to put it on!...

Thanks for all of the opinions, etc., however, I am still going to mount the factory front plate bracket on my 2006 RC.

However, I STILL don't see the "dimples" on the black front end of my truck. Can someone with a 2006 RC verify the dimples are there and maybe give me a hint as to what to look for? If I'm going to do it, I want to do it right... I just don't see ANYTHING there. Thanks! :dontknow:
