actually, you may not be running enough power to worry about it yet. my motor made 90 whp stock and almost 600 whp now. so i guess when you're up to 3000+ hp you should upgrade the headers.
How's that SMART car workin' out for ya?AWDisuzu said:my motor made 90 whp stock...

Hot air moves quicker than cold air. Headers/manifolds need *some* heat in order to be efficient.
The trick is finding that magical temperature.
Mike- You saw the Jet-Hot thread, right?

1) I am not a stock motor
2) If I need more power I will up the shot.....for FREE
3) I currently make more power than I can use on the street
4) headers are for girls
5) headers have been proven to cause testicular tumors
6) your mama

3) I currently make more power than I can use on the street
4) headers are free horsepower, and allow the exhaust valve & seat to run cooler.
5) headers have been proven to sound really good, not like a girls Schwinn (made in China) with clitty litter on tha seat.
6) your headlights are what I will be seeing in my rear view mirror.
7.Hook it up or loose........................

Or you had a weld fail or a tube fracture. With the amount of heat these engines produce, it wouldn't surprise me if there are instances of metal fatigue simply due to heat, and not necessairly pressure.AWDisuzu said:hot air takes up more space than cold air, so it flows quicker because it's got more volume. after a while, it needs bigger tubes to keep flowing. my exhaust pressure must have been pretty high to rip the header open!
I was actually talking to the other Mike, but.....I guess it works both ways.AWDisuzu said:and yes, I have jet hot coating on my turbos, but not on my manifolds.

Sure!Nowwhat said:Kev...send me those coated manifolds and I will test them out for you...![]()
Nowwhat said:deal ...If I get to 3000hp I will put on headers....
lightninquick said:MIKE!!!!!! some sort of headers!!! please!!!!!!
not for hp,,,,just to cool your poor pistons!!!!! if you dont you will end up with a burnt skirt,,,,,,,on the piston, not your own
Nowwhat said:What up R...
have you seen the SRT manifolds...?....they are basically shorties...but since you asked so nicely...I will be at DC performance tomorrow and I will ask Dan to talk with Kevin at EED....and I will do whatever they say....![]()
what is your new best time....9's yet....?....
FerrariTruck said:kind of like the shorties except the shorties are kind of close to having equal length runners..
lightninquick said:nicley put as well,,,,lol

but im working on it
i bet you get a 10 before i get a 9,,,,maybe you will beat me to the 9's aswell:rock:
