Buddy of mine is offering me a JL Audio W1 10" sub he had in a truck box in his GMC. Curious if I could use this in place of the Infinity sub. Looking for a little more bass and wasn't sure if this would help

ya still runnin the factory head unit???

from what i have been told, a different/"better" speaker won't help much.

I tried that before.... the connections are all screwed up. The stock sub has a special plug.

Maybe if you splice it or cut into it somehow. If you do, do a DIY so I can too ha

I did it years ago, i cut the factory plug to accept a normal sub, sounded like garbage. factory amp is not strong enough for any kind of decent 10" sub

need a dual voice coil sub with the oem unit, swapped mine out with one that has better stats, and works great! It's been awhile, but needs to be same (low) ohms...can't remember if it was 2 or 4.stuff the box with polyfill.

Ours are all dual 2ohm voice coils. If you replace with same dual 2 ohm coil speaker it should sound good. Now like said, our little amp is barely strong enough to power out factory 10" so it would be a needed upgrade for any serious bass! Now you can replace your stock with another stock and enjoy pretty damn good bass from one 10" speaker!
I know I come from serious sound systems and have been content with my factory 10 year old system! Still beats down the block when windows are about halfway down and volume all the way up!
Makes folks think you have a "system" lmao

It's really simple. It just has 2 positives and 2 negatives. They are run parallel. They could be bridged for more power, but the amp will say "F-You" lol

I have a 10 kicker instead of the stock sub that fits directly into the factory box with a epicenter and a amp sounds way better than stock
