Synthetic Oils - Some clarification please

I don't have my owners manual in front of me that discusses the warranty but if I remember correctly the warranty for oil discusses that the proper oil has to be synthetic with the SAE and API/ILSAC specs. After looking on the Royal Purple website there racing oils do not conform the SAE and API/ILSAC specs. So from reading that information, it would appear to me that the traditional RP synthetic oil that meets the SAE and API/ILSAC specs and qualifies for oil that conforms to Dodge specs for warranty however the RP racing oil does not. I will read the warranty section again to make sure that is what it says about the SAE and API/ILSAC jargon.

Here is the info directly from RP website:

What is the difference between your SAE motor oils and your racing oils?

Royal Purple's motor oils are formulated to provide unparalleled performance and protection and comply with API / ILSAC specifications. Its racing oils vary in viscosity and formulation as compared to the SAE motor oils to provide the greatest performance gains possible without regard to API, SAE and / or ILSAC specifications.

Thanks!

Isn't Amsoil like from Amway? I would not buy from a cult like that place anyway.

Well, got my oil done this morning and smooth sailing. I am noticing a bit higher temp on the oil, but it has been a bit warmer out since I drove it last.

Thanks again for the posts...:burnout:

Dude, that is so very true. Those Amsoil guys scare the crap out of me. You have to know someone in their "organization" to get it from. No independent testing.

If anyone is worried about warranty, then stick to the factory recommended drain interval regardless of the oil brand used. That is what gets flagged the most when there is a claim (besides aftermarket parts). Royal Purple specifically states on their site to NOT go to extended drain intervals until the factory warranty has expired.

Also, as stated earlier by Stinker, get an oil analysis done if you really want the know the condition of your oil and whether it is protecting your engine.

MOBIL 0 W 40 FOR ME HERE

ALSO LAST TIME I CHANGED I USED THE NEW "VIPER" OIL FILTER FROM MOPAR- IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE RELATIVELY NEW TO THE MARKET

IT IS WHITE WITH VIPER PRINTED ON IT- IT SEEMED TO HAVE A BIT LARGER HOLES FOR OIL FLOW- I WAS TOLD TO USE IT FROM WOODHOUSE AND BILL PEMBERTON SO I HAD MY LOCAL DEALER HERE IN OKC ORDER A FEW FOR MY FUTURE CHANGES.

I started using Amsoil in my 1991 TT300ZX right after my motor build in 1997......45,000 street/drag racing miles later.....no issues. (20W-50 Severe Service Racing Oil) The car at the time was making 458-RWHP....now undergoing a heart transplant to make 700-RWHP.........

price

What does a dealer get to change oil on a QC.
Mobil 0-40 and filter.
Mine will be due for first change in a few weeks and after reading some stories about people having it changed somewhere else were denied warr claims on the engine.
