Traveling north you will be, unfortunately, in the thick of it as you approach the metro area, actually the "rush" aint over till 8:30-900am. 95 sucks. Reason is there are few choices traveling the way your going.Every tractor trailor is moving freight as well. (they are not allowed on our "parkways") As well, many major city centers throughout NY and Connecticut are close to 95, compounding the problem. Sometimes everything is moving smoothly (but relatively slowly) as you move through the city corridor. That's the best you can hope for. I am taking off today and tomorrow to do household "chores" (sand deck, change oil, wash/wax vehicles, cut lawn) Call me if you get in a jam, I have a city atlas and could possibly offer an alternate route. I should be passing through NY around 7:00 PM. How will traffic be on 95 at that time?
I know traffic is always shitty there, but most of rush hour should be done by then, right?
I wanted to add one more thing, If you are not constrained by time, maybe leave later. 95 takes you over the George Washington Bridge and across the dreaded Cross Bronx Expressway (believe me, there is no "express") ask nycstv. There is, however, an alternate. NY Thruway 87 north to escape the city choke. The Bridge, however may still be a problem inbound at that time (700am) Too much info here? give me a call, if need be.
