I have a new job hauling empty cargo trailors, and hope to do this enough to leave my current manufacturing job (dislike very much). Im thinking about selling the 10 to get a good or even new Cummins manual for hauling. What do you think i could get for it (it has 15K miles). Any and all input appriciated...

Bad time to sell, these trucks aren't moving well now.

to me pshyco, bad move, box moving is fly by night most of the time bro:eek:

here today, gone tommorrow, unless you do a real good background deal on them, most yard dogs are a dime a dozen, be carefullbuddy,

see if you can do it on off time?"

but your truck I would think 20-25k

I hate seeing posts like this. :(

Just remember... its only a truck. Right now a job is more important. I would hate to see you sell it and the job not work out or something.

Hate to see you sell but ya gotta make a living.....if you can do the work yourself remove the headers & CAI...they wont increase the truck's value but you can sell them fairly easy......expect $23K to $29K....just depends how patient you are...specialty vehicles like our trucks have a limited # of buyers......plus the economy has big effect...

Thanks guys, and Tony, right how it is a weekend nob, and i have a great friend that runs a trailor company and he sell around 15 per week, economy hasnt touched their sales. Hes putting me first on jobs, just trying to justify gettin another truck to make money with and keeping the srt...tryin to figure this out...

I agree with by 'ol buddy, Stink on this one, Bro.

..... NOT a good idea, leaving yer day job.

try to keep it a weekend deal bud, make yourself a chart

figure up how much per pull

fuel, food, stays. all figured in

then figure up a $15k truck, insurance tags, and pop in 5k a year for tires and upkeep,

see if you can jsutify buying a truck, doing the job, and keeping both.

one thing is ,they may not have been hit by the economy, but working with good friends ends up being a bad idea:eek:
you have to talk with him and let him understand its a business deal, heck you can loose family members by going into biz together;)

but to me, if I had to sell something to go into a job, it best be a damn good job with plenty of oppurtunity, and loongevity.

btw, a neighbor of mine has a goosneck trailor you may be interested in, you can move into doing hotshot, but its a cuthroat biz too:p

Your a good man buddy, i really appriciate the advice, i might be givin you a call here soon ;)

Selling vehicles like our trucks is a slow process and if done correctly it takes time to find the right buyer...don't get in a position where you have to sell it!

It took four months to sell my '97 Volvo Wagon...but I knew what it was worth to the right buyer...after months of low ball offers...when I finally sold it, I got my asking price and had three different offers at that price...but I was willing to wait to get the amount I wanted. I had even offered it to a friend at 2/3 of the asking price, and before that person could decide I had the three offers...so you have to be very patient.

Listen to Tony...do the math and be very conservative in your estimate of income and over state your expenses...most small businesses fail in the first year because of over enthusiastic financial projections and the inability to generate the cash flow necessary initially to survive.

hey cody.....i may not be the best person to give advice based on my personal example; but i've hauled a few small ones with my 10 to make a quick buck...i have a good buddy in the biz, as well... but just like tony said, it's here today, gone tomorrow...

if i might throw this out there:

keep the 10, strictly because it will be a wait (probably) to get the money you want, buy a cheaper, older dizzle...maybe like a 99-02 cummins...just a decent looking truck that'll haul...try it for, say, 6 months to a year, and if it keeps steady, or you can put some money back while doing it, you can upgrade to a better rig...also if it doesn't pan out, you would be able to sell the diesel a lot quicker than the 10 (i would think)...

just my .02

i'd hate to see you sell your truck and then find this new venture is not for you. then you have another gas guzzlin dodge
