Thank You Jake!:)

You know, I have been thinking about this alot lately. I used to tell my students (Young Sailors and Marines) on a weekly basis that in my eyes they were Heroes.

I think they used looked at me like I was blowing smoke up their asses but I wasn't. When I told them that, it was because those young men and women joined the military at one of the hardest times in the United States history...we were at war...but with someone we couldnt identify.

I love our military...but I hate how they are put on the back burner. If you guys thought we were at the forefront of Congresses minds think about this...the money for your beloved military is still sitting on the table at the Senate building because those bastards that make 500-1,000,000 a year have a point to prove.:(

Why does this affect your military? Well, I for one am waiting for a selective reenlistment bonus that the Gov't promised me....been 3 weeks and will be even longer until congress approves it. So, love all you want but remember who you vote for....

Sorry for the soap box moment...just been on my mind lately.:(

Thanks for the thread Jake!

I was watching The Daily Show last night, and getting angry with John Stewart (Nothing new there) because he was arguing with Sen. McCain about supporting our troops. He (McCain) was saying that knocking the president is not showing support for our troops. (And in some ways I agree) But what got me mad (And again, this is a common theme) was that Stewart wouldn't let him complete a sentence! He kept cutting him off just as he was making his point!
To me, this is typical journalism in America these days. If you have a point to make, make it; but be open to hear the COMPLETE thoughts of those that oppose it. If you are right, and believe you are right, you have nothing to fear. But, if you keep cutting people off, and twisting their words, it probably means that you don't really believe yourself, and you are afraid to hear something else that might be true, even though it contradicts your thoughts. (did that make sense?)

Anyway, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!! They put everything on the line everyday, and put their lives on hold to do it!!!

God Bless them, each and every one!!!

I would like to say a very special thank you, to all that have served past and present.

Bill.

I never felt like a hero, just somebody doing what everyone fortunate enough to live in this county should do.

As far as knocking the president equaling not supporting the troops I believe that is pure bullshit. In fact, I think this president was under the misguided notion that the troops are his personal forces. I despise politicians who use the military to prove their points, no matter if I agree with the points they are trying to make or not. Our Armed Services are here to protect the American people and the American way of life, not to play politics with.

This is a great thread!!!!

I can only echo the crowd - Thank to all that are serving or that have served in the Armed Forces.

I would like to add that freedom to criticize the President if you disagree with him is much of what I was fighting for. And on a personal level, if you differ from what the President and his/her administration does and you do not voice your opinions you have abdicated your responsibility as a citizen of this wonderful country.
