The corner of MOPAR LANE & DODGE AVENUE!
Well it started out as a beautiful day Saturday. 79 degrees and partly cloudy. I adjusted the valves on the Coronet, changed the plugs and made the final adjustments to the Cal tracs, springs, and shocks. I drove to the drag strip, sat there and let it cool a while and shot the breeze with a few of my friends. So I pull into the staging lanes and wait my turn, pull into the water, wet the tires, and pull ahead a few feet. I put the car in second, buzzed it up to 6500 then shifted to high, just as it started pull itself out of the burnout the starter starts waving for me to cut it off. I cut it off and they are frantically pushing it back off the track. After I got out I saw the coolant all over the track. It had pushed a freeze plug out on the passenger side and dumped all the coolant.
After I got it back to the pits and started thinking about what COULD have happened I said a little prayer of thanks. Had I launched the car as normal and it dumped coolant while the front tires were off the ground, I would have been all over the guardrail. Had it happened down track at say 120 mph no telling what might have happened. Needless to say I am replacing ALL the freeze plugs with ones that have a wider shoulder. Thanks for letting me say I am THANKFUL!:D :D

I am also thankful that it went the way it did!!

Glad you missed out!;)

Now that is a bad dream! I just can't imagine what a problem that might have been if the freeze plug had let go 10 or 15 seconds later.

Scary stuff!

That could've been messy!:burnout:
