As many owners have experienced the Pirrelli's on several of our trucks tend to make the truck ride bad, vibration from the rear. I wrote DC about this, keeping in mind I do have the issue, but never had it looked at. This is the letter I got back. Not much of a help other than the letter states the dealer should do what it takes to fix it. Personally, I think that means new tires, not Pirrelli's. I might take my truck to the dealer before I bolt my new tires/rims to the truck, let them document the issue, then ride back with the new rubber and document the lack of the issue. Maybe I can get some $$ back on my new tire purchase.

Personally, DC customer service truly brings the suck....same response on my issue - contact a dealer, it's not our problem....

On the tire note, been lucky with this truck :dontknow:

My truck rides OK but is scary to drive in the rain at any speed above 50. The thing wants to hydroplane like a boat. I'm not talking torrential downpour. Just a moderate rain is enough. Anyone else experiencing this? My wifes been white knuckled more than once while I'm waiting for the front tires to grab so I can steer away from the guard rail.

I had the exact same issue. My dealer went through 12 different Pirelli Tires and could only find ONE that would pass roadforce testing. After that, they decided to just switch me to General tires.....now, all is well. No more shakes.

mine shakes every time i put the pirelli's back on. thats why most of the time i run my 20" hemi spare wheels on it with the bfg's. there is a hell of a differance.

I'll never own another Pirelli. Generals or Toyo's are my next set.

They all suck... just a matter of degree. :dontknow: I have Toyo's on my Ford and they are cupped to shit in under 15000 miles.

Like I have said before, these tires will hydroplane on week old dry spit. They suck in the rain.

My wife has the same size tires on her Infiniti. They are the Toyo Proxes ST's and no problem with the rain. I will need tires by spring time and will definetly consider the Toyo's at that time.

Makes one wonder how many of these wrecked trucks that we keep seeing are due to the tires and hydroplaning. I can get a good deal on the General Grabber UHP's and have read a lot of good things about them. That's what I'm seriously considering and the Perelli's aren't even worn out yet.

Iguess that I must be one of the lucky ones,I have no problems with my tires no viberations, just when its wet on the road and floor it then it will break lose, but then again 500hp what do you expect.

I'm with ya on this one, Brat. I've not had issues with grip, dry or wet. No vibration problems either (125 mph max. so far).

Anyone expecting Audi-type traction on a 500 HP pickup truck with no bed weight is on the pipe.

Smart driving ALWAYS nets better traction.

My only complaint with the Pirelli's would be the wear factor. They wear a little (okay, a lot) quicker than, say, Eagle GT-II's. But this is to be expected from a high performance, soft compound tire.
I'll probably try a different brand in the spring just to compare.

I've driven mine for 13,000 miles, no problem or unusual wear. In fact, I still have more than 50% on all the wheels still. Only issue is funny steering when I hit the grooves on the freeway.

That's not really the tire... It's the width. :dontknow:

MY pirellis are up to 27k..i've rotated every oil change(front to back) and stil have about 2mm from the wear bar...I've not noticed any issues really, if the price is right i'll do pirellis again for my next set which will be soon...

What i've noticed is that if I park the truck out front on the street (pavement) i'll get one hell of a shake until the tires warm up, but if i park it around back on gravel I don't have any problems, i do have a terrible time in the snow but that's just obvious :)

One correction here. Our weight distribution is 55/45 which is not bad for a pickup. Hell, for that matter it's not bad for any front engine / rear wheel drive vehicle.

I should mention that that 55/45 figure is for a RC. Not sure what it is on a QC.

Sorry Silverback. I should have been clearer:

"Anyone expecting Audi-type traction on a 500 HP pickup truck without any weight in the bed is on the pipe."

I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised by how GOOD the Pirellis have been in the rain. I picked the truck up in Indiana (with 27 miles) and drove home to Ohio in the rain, no issues. I drove it to Grand Rapids a couple of weeks ago both up and back in killer rain. Again, no problems.

Hate to sound like my dad, but massive smokey burnouts vulcanize the rubber and they do become total crap in wet weather. I just haven't done this yet, but it will happen to me also.

My 2 cents.
