After 76 attempts with great excuses as to why I failed, it was pure determination, and nothing else, that got me through it.

I picked up my kids for a Disney Land Dad visit...looked in the rear view mirror and they both had gas masks on that my EX had given them...

I got the point...her support check was very late that month!

Yup, they had a lot to do with it. But I wanted to. I am a control freak. Can't stand to smoke grass any more...just did not feel in control...same for cigarettes, they were in control and I just hate that feeling.

Truth be told...I must control my own environment...never could do homework because it was doing what someone else wanted me to do, when they wanted me to do it...In the military I spent a lot of time on the ground on my own so I would not have to rely on others.

One of the reasons that a forum appeals to me is that I am free to address issues, ignore them or respond 10 hours later at my pace in my way.

Yup, pretty much a loaner, that wants to rely on me and no one else, so that I am in constant control.

Cold Turkey on Turkey day....

This Thanksgiving will be 4 years since I quit, cold turkey only after almost a decade. Not long like some you guys but the effects were noticed after smoking 3/4 pack a day. Im in the military and doing our PT's twice a year was hard doing a 1 1/2 mile run. I quit because my wife was soon expecting and I didn't want my child to out run me in his early years. We bought a pack that night after cooking a huge dinner for some friends and smoked only 1 and crushed the pack. Never since has these lungs been filled with that crap. A carton now costs around $45-50, what is that all about?
