The Stop Smoking Thread

Congratulations SrtBrad & SrtBradsBoss! It gives me hope that after smoking for almost 20 years - I may actually be able to do it.
It's been something that I've wanted to do for awhile, but it's just been really hard. You would think it wouldn't be that hard since I only smoke about half a pack a day, but I guess that's why they call it an addiction.

The thing I'm looking forward to first . . .

* In 2 weeks your circulation will increase, and it will continue to improve for the next 10 weeks.

As well, being able to breath better, getting rid of the smell, saving that money! When I decide to have that last one, I will make sure that I come back to this thread for that extra needed encouragement.

:turtle:

Alex we will be here for you when you make the decision...every single one you don't smoke makes a huge difference. Every day you go without is a victory...if you try to stop 20 times and only last a day each time...those days are all victories.

Go for it, we will help...took me eight or ten tries...but once I substituted Bubble Yum...I was successful!

My next targets: Jake and Sarah...(an occasional cigar is fine Jake!)

Thanks, Buddy. I am a weak, lowly, TURD for not quiting already. :( I need to... and Sarah needs to. I think I'm going to quit soon. But, with Sarah and all her "Bridezilla-ness" :D I think it'd be better if she kept on going for a bit. :p

You can do it! I quit smoking cigs back in '86. I started smoking cigars once in a while for about 10 years and still smoked pot. One year I went to washington and started chewing(YUCK). I was trying to hurt my gums. I gave chewing up after about 3 years of abuse. I quit drinking alcohol in August of '95. Then slipped up and started again 10 years later. I was able to quit again after two years. I also quit smoking pot. Can you believe it? Anyway I've been off all smoke for almost 4 months now. Been off beer again since last June. If I can do all that you can stop cigs. Give it a try. You will really feel good about it, and your lungs will love you again. I feel better now then I have felt for years. Now I'm working on losing weight. Thats harder than any of the other shit I've quit.

Thank you Roy! I appreciate your support!! And I'll probably bug the shit out of you too - to keep me from thinking about having another one! I have made a decision today, I'm going to give it a try and make today my last smoking day. I have 2 left - one for after lunch and 1 for this afternoon. :p

Congratulations to you to Sleeper! I'm going to give it a try. I bought some hard candy to substitute for awhile and my friend gave me some patches that he had from when he tried a couple of months ago.

I think I can do it - I'm so over the smell and watching my money go down the drain! And I never fail once I put my mind to something. I'll just take one day at a time - and before I know it - it'll be weeks.

It does give me encouragement knowing that you were able to give all that shit up and stay away from it too!

(Hopefully I won't be to grumpy the next few days :( )

Wonderful...you have my cell phone I think. Any time of the night or day call...we can have phone sex until you are too exhausted to lift a lighter...

Seriously, if you go an hour it is progress. If you have a cigarette, make that one the final one...it is a battle, but if you keep trying it will work. Buy some Bubble Yum...put it where you would normally reach for the cigarettes...the taste of bubble gum is always preferable to smoke!

Come on people, lets give Alex the support she deserves for trying!

Congrats for making a decision to quit smoking. Because you want to quit I know you can do it. Roy was an inspiration to us both to quit and I can't thank him enough. We both feel much better and healthier. We drive around our old smoking habit (The 06 Black RC).:D

If there is anything my wife and/or I can do please let us know. Shoot me a PM if you would like the cell#.

For me the first three weeks were the hardest then after that it was a walk in the park.

Also you have to reward yourself for stopping. What will your reward be for yourself? Ours was the 06 Black RC.

I appreciate that! That rocks!

Since I'm stuck with my Dodge Nitro for a couple of more years, I think my reward for stopping is going to be modding up :D I want in-channel window deflectors - side step bars - bigger tires - and maybe something under the hood. I think it would be a smart idea to put the money that I'd spend on cigarettes into a savings account instead - that way before you know it - I'll have my mod money

I'll just be happy though having more energy and improving my circulation! :nurse:

Congrats and good for you turtle! Quitting smoking improves your sex life, too :D :D :D

It's been 8 1/2 hours :D Not doing to bad, but I think the first day is going to be easier than the 2nd or 3rd day. I may want to go into hiding - ha ha ha ha ha
