The Stop Smoking Thread

Remember to get some exercise..It seems that alot of people who quit gain weight as they eat more cuz they dont know what to do with their hands after they stop smoking..lol..
Seriously, good luck..I know its hard, but its well worth the effort..

I gained 25 lbs in 2 months from the time I quit. This was my first significant weight gain since I graduated high school in 1984. However I did loose 10 lbs of that weight gain since.

I agree with you that it is especially important to exercise after you quit. Once the shock is over to the body the eating habits return to normal as they did with me. I noticed my eating habits returned to normal after 3 months.

Marne is a health care professional and understands the importance, of her actions. If she continues on the course she has undertaken she is doing exactly the right thing and is to be highly commended.

And tell her that I am also so happy that she has stopped smoking...;) :D

I just saw this thread :dontknow: . I smoked, regularly for 12 years, meaning 1/2 to a full pack a day. I started having asthmatic related problems. This all happened back in the early 1990's -- i.e., the problems. I quit cold turkey, no patches, no classes, therapy or other BS. All this, after I finally realized it was kinda stupid to be sucking on a smoke, exhaling that stuff and then in the next breath taking a hit off of an inhaler. I took my Camels (started with Newport Menthols and graduated to Marlboro and then to no filters, Camels/Malls, etc.) and lighter and threw them in the trash. I finally realized what's the point of this BS -- mind as well put a gun to my head to end it sooner. Since March 12, 1995, no somkey's for me, except on a few very rare occasions after I made the decision to quit. However, to this day, there is not a day that goes by I wouldn't take one. Anybody who decides to quit, no matter what the circumstances are should be given high credit. :congrats: It was and still is the hardest thing I could have ever done.

You are a hero...he is a weak lilly livered, back slider.

But we love him...even if he is killing himself and others with his second hand smoke.

You can say that again Prof. Far as I know he had 3 cigs in Florida and that is it but who knows :)
I am very proud of myself never thought I would get this far.
