I went to Home Depot today to pick up some stuff that I had ordered. When I backed in to load the stuff I was next to a guy & his teen aged son loading some lumber into their Chevy P/U. He started telling his son all about my truck, 80% of it was wrong. Since it was 112 degrees here today I left the truck & air condition running. The son asked his dad why my engine was making a ticking sound. The father said "There are two kinds of lifters, Hydraulic & Solid. Most vehicles have the hydraulic, which are quiet, but high performance engines like the Viper engine have solid lifters & make that ticking sound. So the ticking sound = solid lifters = high performance engine.
In the future when asked about the ticking sound of my engine I'm saying it's because of solid lifters.

Just tell them there is a bomb under the hood :D and that's why we drive so fast to get it out of the area :burnout:

If it ain't ticking it's either A.) Heavy oil or B.)Something is broke haha

Get use to it, every now and then you'll hear guys who think they know it all.

And just for the record, if you dont like the ticking, you can run 15w50 and it goes away almost completely. Thats what I use. GREAT oil pressure too.
