Sounds correct...the engine temp needs to reach 226 before the fan kicks on....so I guess the 170, in theory, is supposed to keep the colloant cooler as long as air is coming thru!

Two conclusions in my mind:

1. The very best cooling mechanism is 6th gear...

2. If the fan is programmed to come on at 226 from the factory...it can take more than that safely...

Or in 4th gear on QC.....:D .....and i'm sure it can safely take more than 226 also....No problem, you're welcome prof
