I support our troops.Hell,I'm an ex-marine!

But those assholes are entitled to their warped oppinions!(that is part of what we are fighting to protect,right?) Just as we are entitled to ours. F'd up as it is....if they cant speak their minds...then will we be prevented from speaking next?
Do they need a good ass whoopin'? probably. But,I think ONLY the PERFECT people should do the whippin'!

sounds a lot like a buncha KKK BS to me! AND....a buncha HOLY ROLLERS,trying to impose their beliefs on others! BOTH are F'n WRONG!
Even GOD gives us a choice!

Here in Austin...we get freakin protesters of ALL kinds,protesting EVERYTHING you can imagine. It is their american right to do that! (even if they are loons!)
I think (my own 2cents) the best thing to do about the IDIOTS here is to IGNORE them.......dont give them any attention...cause THAT is what they want. For you to listen to them. Like em or not,you are listening to their garbage,and just adding fuel to their fire! the fire burns out without fuel....IGNORE them!

Our rights are what we fight for.......remember VIETNAM. Our soldiers were treated wrong! there are always going to be pukes in our country who dont deserve those rights. But,GOOD,and RIGHT....is its own reward! thats why 2 wrongs dont make a right! (but 3 lefts do)

True, and well said... You also have to remember though, the people that came out to "shield" the family and funeral goers from these goofs were ALSO well within their rights as US Citizens.

I believe in their right to protest. Do it anytime that it doesn't interfere with a soldiers funeral. They aren't just protesting, they're intentionally trying to inflict mental anguish and pain on the soldiers family and loved ones that are already going through a very difficult time. It's their timing and place that they choose to hold their "protest" that I have a problem with.

What about the rights of the people that are trying to say their final goodbyes to a loved one? That right trumps the right to protest IMO.

I don't care if it's a military funeral or a civilian funeral, there is nothing as solemn or serious as a funeral. I honestly believe that it should not be legal to protest or demonstrate at any funeral, or at any resting place. All of our rights come with conditions, and so should the right to protest. I know it's a slippery slope, and that does give me pause.

There are limits to free speech now. And prohibiting protests and demonstrations from funeral services would not limit any legitimate means of protest or free speech.

Do you believe that someone should be able to stand outside an elementary school carrying signs that say "I like young pussy" as an example?

i am worried about the progress of limits. sure some are offended when a corpse is protested. there will always be some with issues for whatever protest is being made.
what if the next law says, no protests outside an abortion clinic?
how about, no anti-American speech?
what if someone is offended by pro-military protests? what if the flag "is to be discretely displayed in a manner not offending any party's"

really, American government is drunk with power now, they don't need anymore.

THERE ARE JUST TO MANY PEOPLE WITH TO MUCH TIME ON THERE HAND AND THEY COME UP WITH THE CRAZIEST THING. THEY NED TO HAVE RESPECT FOR THE GUYS AND WOMEN FIGHTING FOR OUR COUNTRY. THE U.S HAS GIVEN US TO MUCH FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND SOME HAVE TAKEN THAT FREEDOM OVER BOARD.

That is when it's gone too far.

Would it be tolerated in the muslim states if we did it to them.

and such things are why we have wars and soldiers. Everyone is not going to agree with everyone else. EVER. Sooner or later war breaks out. even here,it has already happened. and it will happen again....sooner or later. evryone has this "line" that when crossed,they fight. problem is,the line is different in the minds of different people. Even during the war,and after...you probably did not change the other mind...only forced your will on them. "Slippery slope" doesnt do it justice. I definatley beleive in and worship the Christian GOD. And I beleive in free speach. And choice. And fighting for what you beleive in.
Just saying..... depending on which side of that LINE you are on,you are pissing SOMEONE off somewhere!
I think that is why one day,dont know when, GOD is going to say...ENOUGH!
