I've been debating doing straight 3" pipes off the headers with an x pipe welded in, and then doing headers in the future. but i've never played with the exhaust on these trucks, will it have a nasty drone? I want it to sound deep and mean, not painfully raspy, and we don't have emissions regulations here. has anyone ever done this? is it pull-me-over ridiculously loud? also, what sensors are located in the exhaust stream that I need to sim or replace, etc?

Thanks guys!!!!!

Yes, it would be LOUD..... Do what Nowwhat did and use race mufflers.... :dontknow: If he can get away with it in Cali, I'm sure you could.

loud like sexy loud or loud like aw man I can't hear crap and i wake everyone up when I come home to my apartment complex loud?

The LATTER. :D

(It's the "popping" that gets ya in trouble. ;) ) You would probably throw a pretty nice FLAME out the tailpipe tho. :D

Dude just loose the cats and use a magnaflow..............tone is awesome, loud, but not piss off the cops loud. Neighbors will definatly know your comings and goings though!!! I wouldnt want my truck any louder than it is now.

Straight pipes will be obnoxiously loud and harsh...will sound like a 10 cyl. NASCAR...not good in my opinion, "kind of like, his muffler has rusted out and he can't afford to get it fixed"...IMO.

It's loud but if you want i'd give you my delete kit with a crossover. Still say the 1 chambered 3"ers are the way to go.

The Viper engine doesn't have a nice wicked sound like a V8, no amount of loudness is going to fix that.

You should do it, because only by experiencing it first hand will you be able to comprehend the magnitude of the loudness, otherwise you will always wonder what it might be like.

I have played a just a little bit with the exhaust, first deleting cats and then a magnaflow, but even that was a little too much for a daily driver, in my opinion you should be able to listen to music if you want to. I went back to the stock muffler on the catless mids, it's a good compromise and works well for me.

While installing the magnaflow, just before putting the muffler on the catless mids, I started the car just to hear what it sounded like. Granted, straight pipes would carry the sounds out to the tail, but still... It was beyond ridiculousy loud, more like earth shattering loud, painful to be within 30 feet of the truck, just at idle. Getting on the gas was beyond description, and it was not a pretty sound, but more like a super obnoxious trumpeting quack.

You will not be able to hold a conversation with your passenger or listen to any music. No doubt your hearing will become damaged in the long run.

I,ve tried removing the muffler and running through the cats.
extremely loud and raspy,I am still might install a magnaflow ( tru x ) in
place of the muffler. It did seem to pull harder up top ,I,ll be trying it out
at moroso.

sounds perfect......  :D

If you want loud..these are the way go! I made these from stainless pipe just to hear a safe open header system that dosn't throw any codes. $25 + shipping and there yours.

I guess 3" JMB or Boomer cat delete + magnaflow is the road for me.

Have you thought of glass packs? Maybe some 25" long or more. They would definitely get rid of the drone and alot of the crackling during the RPM dives. Not to mention you cant beat the price.
