Went to a boat show over the weekend and absoutely fell in love! The boat show was at a marina here, and I see this dead sexy Four Winns. I want it pretty bad. There is a sacrifice, the truck. :( I love this truck too, but I don't think I've got to enjoy it to its fullest potential. I've never had it to the track, and I don't go to many of the local GTG's. Mainly cause its HS kids with their rice. There is some muscle, but not many folks I know or some I've lost touch with. The motorsport crowd I used to roll with a few years ago, well most of them have down sized, their shit is still broke or they're not into anymore either. We all used to stay out til 3 or 4 in the morning and street race. I just don't find much excitement in that anymore. 1) its illegal. 2) its dangerous. 3) My main circle of friends now aren't into it. . . 4) I'm usually drunk by then

My GF also told me, she'd rather have a new boat so we both could enjoy it, cause she loves going out. To be totally honest, she doesn't enjoy the truck like I do. Like I said before, I don't enjoy it as much as I should. I do want to get something we both would enjoy.

I've got a few things to take into consideration. IF I sell my truck to get a boat, I'll need something to tow it with, or either keep it at a marina. Slip rental can be outrageous. Fuel on the water is rediculous too. But if I keep at a marina, I just call them and tell them to put it in the water and its at the dock waiting on me. Or I can either get a wet slip, and have access to it 24/7. With dry storage, its only available during business hours.

I'm kinda torn on which way to go. To see the boat go to: http://www.yachtworld.com/leaving_yw.cgi?url=http://www.fourwinns.com Go to the Horizon series then go to the 220 SS. This thing has through the hull exhaust and is powered by a 5.7L. Its got some damn attitude. Its got the racks/tower with spot lights and ski/wakeboard storage. Its also got satelite radio and ipod integration! The one I am drolling over has a fiberglass top on it, maybe 3' long by 8' wide. so its got some shade. Also comes with canvas bimini top and trailer. And its orange like that one too. Has the orange piping in the seats. They want like 50K for it. . .

Damn... That's cool, but kinda sucks too.... :dontknow: I didn't think anyone could find a bigger "money pit" than our trucks. :dontknow: But, I think you found it! :2in1: :D ;) I also didn't think anyone bought "New" boats anymore. Don't you loose 50% of their value BEFORE you even sign the papers? :(

Anyway... Hope you still stick around, Jimi. I (for one) would really miss ya, if you weren't here! :(

I guess the way I look at it is, I can drive the truck everyday. A boat you can use when you have the time.

Thanks Jake. That means a lot my friend. I wouldn't abandon this place! Everyone here is so amazing. I couldn't break away if I wanted to!

I've got some things to weigh and balance. This just struck me over the weekend and I got to really thinking which I would rather have more. I thought about getting a used boat and keeping my truck, but the sound of a brand spanking new one, with warranty sounds very enticing to me. I'm very particular about things, and well, the peace of mind of a new one is better to my nerves too. I don't want someone's old problem.

I do feel "bad" when I go to GTG's and hangouts and stuff and my girl's at home with nothing to do. I'd rather her go with me to these things, but she doesn't get the same pleasure I do so she stays home rather than "weigh me down" with her boredom. She doesn't have any hobbies or anything, so it was nice to see her excited about something. I'm happy either way. I've always been a water slut. I still have a "toy".

I COULD drive the truck everyday. I treat it like a boat/motorcycle. I only get it out when its nice and on weekends and stuff.

This so far is an "idea". I doubt I'll do anything anytime soon, unless the deal of the century comes along. I told the sales manager I had this truck and he said they'd trade for it. They only trade on vehicles if they're ultra nice/exotic/luxury cars. So who knows.

Jimi, I dont own a boat but I must say that anyone I have ever known has eventually regretted it. The cost of fuel, slip, weatherizing, etc... You get so busy working to pay for the damn thing it becomes an albatross.

Boats (to me) are for the real enthusiasts that do it all the time. The ones that have had many boats and continue to be people that always need to be on the water.

If I recall, you kinda bought your SRT as an impulse buy as well. As far as the GF, rent some seadoo's for the day.

They always say, resist the impulse to buy a boat. I have, many times... And when it wears off, I am happy I did. We already have enough crap to deal with.

Well, I agree with Jake. No matter what you decide, if you leave the forum, I will hunt you down, and drag you back!

I personally LOVE boats! But, they really are money pits! BOAT = Bust Out Another Thousand!

I love to be on the water too, that's why I have the jetski. Until I can afford the boat that I REALLY want, (Like a nice MasterCraft) I am quite happy with my little boat!

Take a look at the new Sea-Doo Wake! They are very nice, and a lot of fun! and about 80% cheaper than the Four Winns. (Which are very nice IMO!)

I have to agree with Dad on this too, the amount of time you can actually use it... I live in central Florida for crying out loud, and I can only really enjoy the boat about 8 months out of the year. Sometimes making that payment when I couldn't ride it really seemed non-sensical!

Too bad that your GF couldn't find more enjoyment in just being with you at the GTG's. :(

Good Luck! Tough choice!

I understand your delimma. Been there, doing that. What I did was purchase a used boat and performed the upgrades myself (tower, stereo, speakers, etc). Frankly, we are not using the boat as significantly as I thought we would. Minimal use with significant costs (ins. upkeep, etc.).

I am so glad I got into this with a $15,000 investment, and kept the truck. Frankly, we are considering selling the boat as we do not use it enough.

Thats what its the weigh and balance. I need to tally up what its gonna cost to maintain the thing, and whats its gonna cost to insure, and pay for etc. . . THEN if I decide to get one, I need to decide if I want to store it at a marina, or keep in the driveway.

Like I said, I love the water, love the beach. I really would dig a boat.

Yep, you're right. The truck was an impulse buy, but I haven't regretted it one damn bit! :D Its just if I want a boat, its gotta go. Sea Doo's aren't for me. They're fun if you already own a boat, but I want to able to anchor down and have some friends come along and drink like hell. Can't do that on a jet ski.

I will admit, its a pretty stong impulse. I feel I am being smart and looking at all avenues of this thing. :)

I'm here to stay brother. Thanks!

They also say a boat is a place in the water to throw all your money into. :D :D

I like jet ski's. They're fun (to me) for about a few hours. Then I want to tie up and drink my balls off. I'd love a jet ski as a secondary water toy. I wouldn't want it as my primary watercraft.

This is another one of my considerations. I could only use the boat for maybe 7-8 months a year. Same goes for my truck, sort of. I only drive it when its nice out. Kinda works itself out. . But its definately something to consider.

Yeah, that does suck. I mean, she enjoys it for the most part. Its when we all go into left field with tech talk she doesn't enjoy. Which tends to happen often. . . She enjoys the fellowship though. :)

Just gotta find more GTG's where the other guys G/F's and wives go too!!
My wife enjoys the GTG's a lot more when there are other Wimmen Folk there! :D:D:D

bought one last year, which we have a landing two miles away and ocean is only 2 hours away, we spend most weekends on the water drinking and cooking and pulling kids on tubes and ski's, wouldnt trade it for nuthing.

Its not that at all my friend. :) I wouldn't consider a fkn 50k investment if I wasn't gonna enjoy the shit out of it too! She wants me to get a bike, but those just aren't me. . . :dontknow:

I mean, yeah, I'd like to finally share some hobby and leisure with her. I've always wanted a boat, and now that I can finally afford one, its tempting. I just can't have both. :(

I appreciate your concern though!

No kidding. Some of the other guys GF's are fake. They pretend to enjoy it when they really don't. Thats even worse IMO.

That what I am talking about. I can throw a rock and hit the lake/river. The nearest ocean is 6 hours for me. But I'd do it in a heartbeat!

you just have to be careful with buying a used boat, i like warranty, also small towns where everyone knows everyone makes it harder for a dealer to screw you over, word travels fast.
