you just have to be careful with buying a used boat, i like warranty, also small towns where everyone knows everyone makes it harder for a dealer to screw you over, word travels fast.

Don't get me wrong, I really do like the boat, and I love getting out and wakeboarding, but with the kids it hasn't been happening. They are now getting to the age where we could start taking them out, but I think we are moving out of the lake.

BUT, buying a new boat is pretty silly. Check out boats that are a year old, you can find them with 20 or 30 hours on them and save a ton of money. And for that kind of money I would seriously be looking at Mastercraft, Tige, or Malibu.

This is another consideration. I really like the idea of a warranty, plus a with a new one, I know its history. Unless I can't be referred to a used boat by a friend, then I probably won't buy a used one. I'm fairly novice so I will suck it up and buy a new one. Plus, I like pretty shit.

Tige has a 24' open bow with a 350 in it I'd love to have. Its got orange accents too! Damn sexy! :rock:

You don't want mine, it's an older boat, a 95. But, it only has about 300 hours on it. I paid 13k for it about 4 or 5 years ago and should be able to sell it for right around the same now. The price of new boats has climbed so high that some older boats have held their ground.

I would take 10 grand for it, needs a little TLC, but definitely worth the price. Wouldn't even be thinking about selling it if we didn't need the cash.

Besides the fact that they a ridiculously expensive, you have to still be careful. um...limited use and oh yeah its not an SRT 10. you basically could have a 10 second truck and go to the track an unlimited amount of time inplace of that boat. My friend had a 21 ft bayliner that was a year old with 30 hours when he bought it. between all the stuff that went wrong & maintence he was out of pocket atleast $400 a month for using it 5 months out of the year.

Find a friend, hook it up with them....as said previously, the best two days of owning a boat are the day you buy it, and the day you sell it....

If you gotta get one, go used....boats tank value worse than our trucks , and there are a lakeload of used boats with few hours that are always for sale at 1/2 the original purchase price.....spend a few grand, get in with the lake crowd, and see if it's really for you......if you find over a couple of years that you become a true lake rat, then upgrade.....but if you are like the vast majority of people, your boat just becomes another expense, then you can sell the used boat, get most of your money back, and still have the truck :rock:

i breathe, eat and sleep BOATS! afterall its what i do for a living.when i shopped around for an offshore fisher, maintenance was a big issue...didn't want to spend all my time "maintaining". my boat doesn't have any wood in it, even in the structural bulkheads (its all foam cored fiberglass and has a ten year warranty on the hull). outboards were the only way to go for me,they are designed and built specifically for what they do. all inboards are converted car engines or engines that were designed for other duty.for example the engines in the supply boat i run are converted train engines (EMDS'). these converted engines can be a real headache when run in salt water.shop carefully, go over the warranties and get the most for your money! if you have any questions id' be glad to help p.s. some other things to consider...bottom paint will run you about a grand for a 22' footer. i trailer mine for that reason plus just being NEAR the salt water creates problems,LOL much less keeping it in it. keep the sun off of it..sun is brutal on fiberglass,i keep mine in a boat barn. good luck in whatever you do!

Boats are fun, my uncle has one, it is a really big hassel to maintain it.

Personally this is how I feel, when I come home from work. I want to see what I work for and what I can escape in sitting in my driveway.
If that means owning nice boat and driving a Honda, it wouldnt cut it for me.
