This sucks but makes his win even more impressive

Woods' swing coach, Hank Haney, described the moment when Woods first learned of the stress fractures, and doctors told Woods the preferred treatment for the stress fractures was three weeks on crutches and three weeks of inactivity.

"Tiger looked at the doctor and said, 'I'm playing in the U.S. Open, and I'm going to win.' And then he started putting on his shoes," Haney said. "He looked at me and said, 'Come on, Hank. We'll just putt today."'

The man is the best that ever played period and IMHO will be back and win the first event he enters

I would have to agree! He has done more for the poularity of golf than most too! He re-popularized golf when he won his first Masters.

He's definatly a great player of golf ---but he is still a jerk....;)

His ability to realllly mentally prepare and focus is beyond that of most athletes He gets pissed, gets focused, and produces.

SHOCKED
I cant say I have personally had the pleasure but being in the business I know quite a few people who have and all said he was very down to earth as long as he is not ON the course practicing or playing

He has been courteous to me and the staff at Ponte Vedra inn & Club. He would come over with his body guard to work out right before the TPC. This was in 2000/2001.

Tiger Woods has done for golf in the 90s what Arnie did to revitalize the game in the 50s....

Yes, I've heard stories (from Charles Barkley) saying that Tiger and Michael Jordan are lousy (if not non-existant) tippers. As well as other shit. But, I have no personal experience (with which) to substantiate that...

Golf owes a debt of gratitude to Tiger, Arnie and Jack.

The million dollar purses and the cash that flows through pro golf wasn't there before Woods. He may have personally saved the game from near extinction, who knows....?

But, for Tiger to win the 2008 U.S. Open fkn Championship ...... on that unbelievably gnarly course (it was...look at the scores) in 91 bloody holes.... With one majorly ripped up knee... which caused him to fracture both the tibia AND fibula in his left leg..... well..... The man is badder than King Kong with a baseball bat......

Oh yes, and he's the best fkn golfer who ever walked on two feet.....

I agree, Tiger rawks...........

But who is the one that doesn't walk on two feet??? I wanna see that game :dontknow: :dontknow: ;)

Tiger may well be the finest golfer to ever live.

And he may also be one of the most mentally focused athletes to grace our shores.

I think I can cut him a little slack if he gets pms from time to time.

I only saw a little of the Open. One of the things I did see was Tiger hitting that shot where he had to stand on the concrete. Looked like that one hurt real bad, they can hurt if you're healthy.

i dont see how people think so highly of athelets doing what they are paid to do when they are hurt. id like to add that they get paid a helluva lotta money to play games. everyday people pull off a lot more, getting paid less. so having said that, i am giving my praise to the common, everyday worker who keeps it together despite all the pitfalls and B.S that they have to deal with...you guys rock!!!!

Pretty harsh. Why do you think this? Is it just a bleat because you simply don't like him, jealousy or something else? :dontknow:

I have never seen him being a jerk. He speaks the truth, is honest and tells it like it is. When you are as good as he is and are at the top for that long, you don't get there by laughing about mistakes, he gets upset at himself because his demand for the best in himself is beyond what other players demand. He's the man, great sporting hero and just plain ole kicks everyones arse, his records speak for themselves. Plus, his caddie is a Kiwi too lol :D Americans and Kiwis work together well, obviously. He is mentally focused and calm in the hardest sporting conditions there are. There is no other sport that puts that much pressure on you in pure silence.

Get better quick Mr Woods.

This man is the finest at the most demanding mental and physical game. While it does not require incredible strength and conditioning, the muscle repetition that is required is very daunting. Read an analysis of the difficulty of sports in Sports Illustrated and golf far and away was judged to be the toughest to master.

Well I don't feel to sorry for him. It's not like he will be standing in a soup line somewhere.;)

Agreed He will be the Billion dollar man soon. Hard to believe he has already significantly passed Michael Jordan in earnings....guess we are all getting older
