Does anyone know anything about window tint? i have 5% all around now and i want to layer 2 1/2% on top...is it possible to layer tint? I will be doing the 2 1/2 myself, so if anyone has any pointers that would be great as well. TIA

I have never heard of that before. Your best bet is to rip off the old stuff and start over. Not sure how the glue will react with the tint.

+1 on tint over tint....however i have 5% on my truck right now, if you double tint with 2% over that you wont be able to see Sh*t...i like dark windows but i think this will be to dark

I have 2 layers of tint on my truck and it doesn't bother me! I have 55% on the windshield also.

when i drive the truck, its mostly daytime so i figure it will be ok...thanks for the info...will post pics of the progress/failure

Go to the auto parts store and buy the tint application kit. It will be a small squeege and bottle of tint application fluid. Spray on the fluid and float the tint into place. Then squeege out the fluid from underneath.

Take Care

I've done it and as Black1 said it is a royal PITA. As I recall, I finally used some finger nail polish remover and that seemed to help as I recall, but you sure want to be careful with that around your paint and interior...I'd take it to a tint shop and let them fight it while I went next door and drank beer if it was mine....

where can u buy tint window? and which is better percent of tint? just wondering

You can buy good window tint online. Most of the stuff at auto-parts stores is junk (it will turn purple over time).

The lower the "Percentage", the darker the tint. (Example: 5% tint is darker than 35% tint). The "% value" is measured by the amount of light that passes through the tint. :)

mutt 5% over 5% is what i have on just the back and during the day u can see out but its still pretty hard. i have 5% on 15% on my sides. i like it, u cant see in from outside but at night its bout the darkest to see through and still be able to see through. You cant see in my truck, on the front i have a 5% brow and 35% over the rest. what u said u were doing will be very dark and if thats what u want i say go for it. my 2 cents:)

i held up a piece last night and 2 1/2% over 5% is like painting the windows black...gonna rock:rock:

I had 5% OVER 5% on my last truck and it looked bad to the bone. The sides were fine, but the back made it hard to back up at night. I couln't see shit, it may be easier with the sliding window though...

if rc and qc front side glass is the same i`ll switch out with ya.mine is dark as hell at night.ya got to roll windows down to pull in somewhere or backup at all.:D

2.5% of 5% is 0.125%. Black plastic sheeting is rated at 0.09%

You tint your windows in California, you'll learn how to take it off!
CHP look for guy's like you, and pull them over for nothing else but tinted windows...big NO-NO!
