Here's an accurate weight amount for a few items I removed before going to the Sacramento Raceway yesterday. Passenger seat= 48.5 lbs. Subwoofer = 14 lbs. Plastic tray behind the seats (04 RC) 10.5 lbs. Front sway bar 26.5 lbs. I will post results in the racing section.:D

Dang...that front sway bar was a big hit....any major affect on drivability?>.
No difference in driveabilty that I can tell. I'm not a big Cornering guy, but I did drive the truck all the way up to Sacramento and back on wednesday (over 600 miles round trip) and I drove 70-80 through some sweeping curves on the freeway and no difference was felt. The truck felt rock steady...so I am going to leave the sway bar off.

Video??:dontknow:
Watch for the Video in a couple of days showing my runs at Sacramento...a little side note , when I was adjusting my rear shocks (QA1's) I softened the right side 2 clicks ....then totally forgot to adjust the left side...so all 6 runs were made with the left shock 2 settings stiffer than the right side...I am an old Grampa so chalk that up to a Senior Moment:dontknow:

Stinker says dropping the sway bar also helps the front end lift at the dragstrip.

Just replaced the power steering rack (actually Stingray did the work...I just wrote the checks).

If a vehicle is not going to be driven on the street...there is considerable savings in weight by deleting the rack and attaching the wheels with just a tie rod. It would be a bear to drive...unless it was straight lines only!

Trainman...what is the net weight of your RC without driver?

the front and rear swaybars on my honda have been broke for a long time, notice no difference even in that. i didn't even know until i was rust checking the other day.
someone else said remove the front bumper reinforcement?

post results trannygranny opps i mean trainman... i've been without a front swaybar for almost a year now.. only really notice it when I romp on it around 50ish in 3rd gear... the driver side lifts a little higher than the pass side!

Hi Prof...hows the Racketball going? Anyway to answer your question, the weight of the truck Race Ready is about 4,475 with 1/4 tank of fuel. That includes removing the aftermarket fiberglass bed cover, tailgate, passenger seat, subwoofer, plastic tray, changing front wheels to a 20x8.5 wheel with 245-45-20 tires. Of course M&H 390-40-17 Drag radials complete the setup. I have ordered a set of the Bogart 18x7 front wheels from FastJack and will be running a 225-55-18 tire and hope to shave another 10-15 lbs with those.

My truck when it was stock (without the spare and jack) weighed 5,000 lbs with the stock wheels, 1/4 tank of gas and the aftermarket fiberglass bedcover. That was my street trim weight. After installing Fiberglass front fenders, a Carbon Fiber hood, removing the factory plastic bedliner and brackets, the windshield washer bottle, the tow bar in the rear, and metal from the front and rear bumpers, the truck weighed 4,840 in street trim with 3/8 tank of gas. To prep for a race I remove the bedcover(120 lbs), tailgate (60 lbs), passenger seat (48.5 lbs), subwoofer (14 lbs), plastic tray behind the seats (10.5 lbs), change to lighter front wheels (60 lbs), and I just removed the front sway bar (26.5 lbs) tuesday, less 1/8 tank of gas ( approx. 26 lbs) and that should put me at about 4,474.5 without me (220 lbs) so race weight of the truck with me is 4,694.5. And to answer your question....YES the Bed is still on!

4475 is ultra lean! Way to go!

I'm on two a day work outs...since the middle of January. Trying to get in shape for the State Tournament again this year. Got beat in the tie breaker for the state championship. He will not get me this year!

Without a front sway bar, the truck will want to swap ends (over steer) at high cornering loads, especially at speed. So, that sweeping overpass that you used to take at 80+ will now be a bit scary as the rear end will start to walk-out on you. It will likely be fairly pronounced if you are on the throttle as well. :afraid:

Be careful out there.
