track day

Ok guys I am going the the track tomarrow night for the first time. I have never ran a 1/4 mile ever. I am looking for some tips and or things I sould do to the truck and taking off from the start. Should I take the hard cover off the back or leave in on. Any advice will help, thanks
Check out the mods,What do you think I will put down?
The track is about 800ft elev
It will be about 70 degrees

depends on if you are going for fun or to put down best number possible. if going for fun i wouldn't take the time to remove bed cover. but if you want to lay down awesome time. shed the cover,tail gate, and spare. i have similar mods minus caltracs and with our crappy DA and poor prepped track i have run 13.5's. i have yet to cut a sub 2 sec 60 ft. i'm guessing you could beat my times, i think you run 13.4 or better. good luck and have a blast

Go around the waterline and back up to the water and do a 5 second burnout. Do not hold the rpm's over 1000 before taking off the line or you'll spin hard. When you see the last amber light just start to light up nail it. If you feel it slipping just back off a tad and hit it again.

Have fun and be safe. Don't try to do more than you are capable of. Take your time and learn. If you feel like your going sideways at all back out and don't try to push the limits.

Well here they are, the ####'s from my first ever run at a 1/4 mile track. I made 7 passes, 1 red light, and the rest were consistant.


1ST run was,
60ft...2.07
1/[email protected]
1/[email protected]

Fastest run was,
60ft...2.01
1/[email protected]
1/[email protected]

My slow time was the red light time at [email protected]. Top speed was 108.84mph, slowest pass was my fastest 1/4 time:dontknow:

Ran the truck with the hard cover on and a 1/2 tank of gas.

I am hooked, now I need it in the 12's now:rock: :rock: :rock:

Very nice runs. You should notice an improvement if you get your 60 ft times down. How was it hooking up?

My first time ever, but it seemed to hook up nice, I only heard it chirp second 2 times out of 7.

Did you post your times in the Time slip section?

Get some DR's and shed some weight and you should be real close to 12's
