Found a track pretty close but I think they only do 8ths. Never tried that...just the 1/4 way back when. Can't even imagine why they do 8th's up here when there ain't that many cars. Maybe shorter runs save blowin sht up :dontknow: :dontknow:

My 05 QC is automatic (obviously) so do you guys do anything with it besides turn off the overdrive and just let it shift, or do you try and hold it in 2nd a little longer. What do you do off the line with no line loc? Just curious.

Put it in Tow/Haul mode, let the transmission do the shifting. At the line, just place one foot on the brake and rest your right foot on the gas pedal. On the last yellow light, feather the gas pedal until it hooks, then mash it and GO!!!!!!!!

1/8 mile tracks don't have to carry as much insurance or have safety crews etc since most cars won't break much over 100mph in that distance. For the most part the race is won or lost in the first 1/8.

Put in tow haul, at the line mash the foot brake and bring the rpm's up. You'll figure out how high to rev it depending on track prep and what tires you're running. In the 1/4 I'd turn the o/d off as well so that I could get the most out of 3rd gear.

Drop your spare and lose 97 ugly pounds...

Looks like you are at 3200 feet or so. Most stock or close-to-stock Quad Cabs won't spin the tires much at that altitude. And they sure won't spin much if you are at a track that has been even 1/2 way prepped for traction. You can drop your rear tire pressure to 20 pounds or so. And don't do any big water box burnouts, just clean the tires off a bit before you get up to the line.
As mentioned, leave it in Drive, bring the revs up against the brake then floor it and go on the last yellow.

Make sure your A/C and defroster are shut off. Don't try to shift it manually.
Don't forget to pump your tires back up when you are done at the track.
And have fun...:)

Thanks guys, kinda whut I figured. I was playing around before I put it up and loading up the drive line and springs and torque converter with my foot on the brake but I thought this might lose the hook if the torque control was off and just light the tires or make it hop, but it don't hop much. Gonna put some Caltracs on it to make it go a little straighter. It's pretty well thought out the way it is for this kind of silliness.;)
Don't know what the stall rpm's might be with the torque control off.....anyway it's just gonna be for fun and nowhere near real racing. Gonna try not to break it anyway, but that won't keep my foot off the floor:D

Kinda thought that by leaving the spare it might add some traction in the light ass end of a truck, but then I never raced a truck before:) :) I chuckle sometimes at the younguns.....don't matter if you have 1500 under the hood if you can't get it to the ground, fckn hooked VW will outrun you;) ;) ;)

Was wondering how much to soften the tires, thanks RR for your expertise!!

Been a while since I been at the track, but it doesn't sound like it's changed much, cept we would have given a nut for 500 horses in our class :D :D
