As some of you know, the last time I went to the strip I broke my clutch Master Cyl. I have ordered the clutch upgrade from JTS Venom, which includes a metal master and slave. Truck is in the shop today. I also ordered JTS Venom electric fans and I will be removing my hydraulic stock fan, I hope to save a little weight and possibly be able to run a short belt on race day to eliminate the power steering pump. I will report on the results if they are practical. I also ordered the Gen II JTS Venom shifter. Finally (and I am really excited about this) I ordered the JTS Venom Carbon Fiber Driveshaft. Tony said there are several in use, but I have not seen any reports on these. I will be taking my truck over to Cal Speed and we will do a base Dyno run with the stock driveshaft (street tires and 91 octane street tune), then we will change the driveshaft and after a proper cool down we will see if the CF Driveshaft adds any RWHP. Then I will test it at the strip to see if it helps at all with the 60' time. It will probably be a while before I go to the strip, so be patient. Also, any of you who already have the CF Driveshaft , please chime in.:burnout:

Steering the beast with no belt and full of oil will be a challenge!!! be sure to drain the oil out of the system when you remove the belt. it will save some more weight to!!

I don't understand what you are saying. I use to do the short belt trick on my 2000 Firehawk, and never drained the pump. I will be installing the electric fan and therefore can eliminate the stock hydraulic fan. The JTS Venom kit includes lines to plug the lines going to the factory fan, so I don't see any reason to drain the power steering pump.

I recently did the JTSVP hydraulic upgrade... You're going to love it!

I agree with the Canuck! Drive down the road, throw it in neutral, Jill the engine andctry steering! ITs near impossible and if you had to maneuver fast, it's not happening. Ask anyone who's belt may have broken while driving!!
Put a manual rack in her and shed weight and be able to steer ;)
I believe it's a different type hydraulic system used (closed VS open)
And thus the reason steering is impossible without the pump. I've done the same on LS engines ( short belt) but on ours we'd need to skip something else. Usually A/C and alternator ;-)

I fixed it for you :D

thanks:D

i had one... well... still do;)

i probably made 50 or so passes with it installed...

while i can't say it made a difference, if at all, in 60' times, i can say when powershifting it didn't make the truck feel like the entire dash board was trying to rip itself out and attack your face! the drivetrain shock, IMO, seemed to be muted with the carbon DS installed...

plus... you'd be amazed how many people don't believe you when you tell them you have one and they lay down to look at it in a parking lot, lol... jesus you'd think there's a midget stripper in a cupcake or something under there:D so that's cool, lol

I drove my truck a couple days without power steering lines hooked up and no fluid in it. Was VERY hard to steer but definitly doable

That actually makes me want one.

Sounds like someone has experience with such things. :hmmmm:

How much time did that shave off your ET's?

My friend has a carbon fiber driveshaft on his Lightning. He says his truck picked up .1 tenth in the 1/4...... Every little bit adds up! Good Luck Trainman

i've never raced 1/4 mile, so for the sake of arguement, i'd rather see jerry make a half a dozen runs and change nothing but the driveshaft...

it "felt" a little easier to launch, but the truth is maybe i "wanted" it to feel that more than it "actually" was... if that makes sense...

Short belting an LS when stock is about a 1/10, bigger power guys claim 2/10. Most go to a manual rack and only run the water pump with the belt and it's usually underdriven pullied too:D

keep us updated bro - looking foward to the results

I'd love to hear more about the metal master cylinder.

Is it the exact same dimension but metal?
