Just got my truck back today after being in the shop for 7 days (including weekend), getting my tranny beefed up..

She feels like a whole new truck.. I am still going easy on it and properly going to break in the tranny for the next 300-500 miles.

But there is a HUUUUGE difference in the 1-2 shift, and a very noticable 2-3 difference. The stall of 2300 a little to get used to... I have not launched it really hard yet... but have stabbed it a few times while rolling at about 25mph.. and that 1-2 shift definatley is firm and throws you into back of your seat.. the back end just sqauts and she goes...

Cant wait to get my SC, headers, and Mids on from boomer..

-----------

This is a copy from my original post...

1. Entire Tranny being inspected for weak parts, and those being replaced with all heavy duty parts.... even thought it only has 6k on it.. he will go through the entire tranny piece by piece and replace what they think it will need to hold the HP, Torque, and abuse that I will be throwing at it.

2. New Valve Body

3. Trans-Go Shift Kit

3. Upgraded Pump

4. Billet Custom made 2300rpm stall converter.

6. Some valving that will allow fluid to flow even in park.

6. 12mo/12,000 mile warranty (I might be able to talk them into a 24/mo-24k warranty.

How much did this cost you? I am starting my research on the trannies as I prepare to take my truck in for a supercharger in a few months.

Everything inclusive - $3900.00 (tax included), it was $90.00 extra for shipping a part overnight that came from east coast.

Your tranny and $6700..........Suncoast.

Now I'll ask yours and Mikes advice on this....I am going for about 600-650rwhp as I wanna keep my truck a daily driver, what would be good for me the 3 grand option at Suncoast or the $6700 option?

It's plainly clear that option two is $3700 better ;)

Obviously the $6700 tranny may be a better one... but just what are the doing different than what my builder did for $3900... he went through mine, showed me the build list, warrantied it... and replaced every conceivable weak part on it...

Unless they are giving you custom made billet shafts... I really dont see the difference other the "Suncoast Name" which I highly doubt that...

I think maybe before any decision is rendered we should get lists from the places that do this work, part numbers, work performed, etc.. and compare them to see just what the difference is.

Not bashing "who is the best" but we all know what certain vendors like to do in this space... do some work, that is cookie cutter, charge alot for it.. dont tell you what they did... and send you on your way.

My builder was very straight with me.. he told me exactly what he was doing, and in terms that I understood (cuz when it comes to trannies I dont know jack) He even called me every few days and gave me status reports on where he was at with it, problems found, etc... I dont think you find that very often in the auto service business...

Who did the work?

Lee Myles Transmission of Surprise, AZ.

They built (Gilbert, AZ location) built my tranny for another vehicle that I have and it never failed me... was also treated the same way at the other shop as I was with this one... told everything that was being done, parts costs, what components did, etc.. even called to give me status reports.
