Looks to be leaking from 2 locations: 1) from the seal around where the driveshaft inserts into the tranny and 2) from where the inspection plate is located. I can feel fluid when I put my finger inside the area where the torque converter and flexplate are.
Truck is going to a the dealership tomorrow morning; I don't believe they have a viper tech per say but since these tranny's are common among the Dodge's, this shouldn't be a problem should it? Any ideas as to what I can expect these leaks to be? I'm guessing a few seals will need to be replaced? Any input is appreciated and I'll let you guys know what they tell me.

:dito: Im shocked they are replacing the whole unit for two seals. HMMMM chrysler would freak if they fingered that out. :D

Truck went in yesterday for the new tranny. What I am worried about is them taking the truck out for a test drive and abusing it like so many other members have said happened to them at the dealership.
How many miles should the tech need to drive the truck after the new tranny is installed? The courtesy driver said 5 but who knows if thats right.

Dont worry about it bro, they seem like a mighty fine service department, I would say anywhere from 5-10 miles is the norm. Anything over 15 would raise a flag.

I find it hard to believe that dealership is replacing the tranny for that sort of repair. The dealership has to send that trans back to chrysler and if its not more than 70% failed, the dealership will be charged back for the repair.

Unless they said the front pump fried the clutches, that would be the only way. It really doesnt make any sense to do it though, you get paid the same amount for both jobs, the parts department just wont make as much.

but when you send that trans back with the 70% sheet attached it wont have those burnt clutches . just having burnt clutches wont cause it to be over 70%, there would need to be a t/conv that came apart and a valve body damaged from t/conv material to cause it to be over 70% damaged.

You never know what they have hiding in their paperwork, sounds extremely fishy to me.

yeah... there is no reason to replace the trans for these leaks unless the case itself is cracked.
