Figure its about time to post up the aftermath.....

Sent my trans to Six Speeds, Inc to get it rebuilt and cryo'd. Readers digest version.....they told me 4 times that the trans was finished and or shipped. So what was initially ensured a 5-8 day process, turned into a 5 1/2 week cluster phuck.

I wouldnt have been half as pissed if they just told me they were busy but to tell me my trans was finished and shipped (even giving me false tracking numbers) was complete BS.

Anyway, the trans is back in.....

What attributed to the loss of second gear (drag racing had nothing to do with it :D) is the failure of a viper slave unit. It was slowly going bad and first noticed it at the track when the truck would creep forward in the staging lane when revving over 4000 RPMS.

Sooo, ordered a new Viper master/slave unit along with an OEM flywheel from Justin

No more hydrolic issues and the truck has never shifted this good....ever :D

The truck feels quicker with the OEM flywheel and heavy traffic driving manners are much improved ;)

Sooo, after 5-6 months of either the truck being down or not shifting worth a crap, I am now in love all over again :D

Going to switch back to the Gen IV from the Gen II shifter this weekend.

Anyone want a Fidenza flywheel cheap :dontknow: It only has a couple 5000rpm clutch drops on it ;)

And HOW do you spell RELIEF ???? Glad to see your falling in love all over again !!!

Do you think the tranny shop got your order mixed up with someone else when they said they shipped it? Or did they just lie?

I was talking to a former Lightning owner today and he was telling me about a company called 10 speed...I wonder if he had confused the two...

Anybody heard of them? He said he dealt directly with Johnny Lightning...I dont know the guy but I know alot of ya were L owners once upon a time.

They were flat out lying. This exact thing happened to another person on another forum...giving them the same excuses.....DHL, didnt come today...or the classic...There was a bomb threat at DHL, so they wont be shipping anything out for a few days

Can you trust that the rebuild was done to your specs? Are you sure the tranny was actually cryo'd ? I'm glad everything is working well for you now. Just makes you wonder that if they have been dishonest in one area, what else aren't they doing? Happy 4th.

Yeah really!

Charles, how come you changed out the flywheel? Did the failure of the slave unit compromise it somehow?

No, the Fidenza just sucked ass for drag racing and everyday driving.....too light. ;)

The truck does drive better with the OEM.....The DC flywheel might be the best overall package but happy to be back to the OEM for now :D

too light?

Ok bro, what was it doing? I thought the Fidenza was an upgrade? As I am now going to be puting a lot more pressure on my tranny, I need to know the pitfalls. Please explain this post more thoroughly. Too light?

Thanks in advance,
Perry

Charles thanks for the input.

I was thinking about sending a box to them. Now I think I will order the upgrade parts I need from them. Have them cryoed locally and make it a DIY deal.

The Fidenza is an upgrade for the Viper as intended but......big butt ;) its not so good for our trucks. Due to the weight of our trucks you lose potential stored energy with the lighter flywheel. The truck does rev faster with the lighter flywheel but only after the truck is moving. So for auto crossing, it could be better, but now that I have driven with both....I still think you need the potential energy in autocross due to the weight.

If I was going to upgrade, I think I would try the DC flywheel. Although, if I was budget minded, I would spend my $ in other areas and stick to the OEM.

My .02

BTW.....

I drive the shit out of all of my vehicles all the time....I have pushed my truck to the limits and beyond........ That why I bought it...my inputs come from bouncing off the rev limiter sliding around a corner, looking at getting back into the torque curve as soon as the chassis is settled to enter the next sweeper....on my way to work each day ;)

I would be hard pressed to see an advantage of using the Fidenza aluminum flywheel in our trucks.

Mine drives better now as well.Went back to the stock flywheel from the fidanza.Doesn't rev up as quick, but overall it feels better to me.

Do you mean Level 10?

I've heard good and bad about Level 10.
