So since I have ruled out the engine to explain the rough driving I started looking at the tranny. This morning I tried to put it into 1st but it would not go. It stopped at 2nd. After the truck warmed up I was able to get it into 1st. The shift from 1st to 2nd if very rough. 2nd on up is normal. So I'm thinking of getting a new filter, fluid and the bands adjusted to see if this takes care of the problem. Now if I place the truck in Drive it will start off in 1st, it just won't let me put it in 1st if it is cold.

The auto's are electronically controlled, right? Could it be PCM?

I take that back, kinda not related. Your problem sounds mechanical. Maybe the 1st gear solenoid or bad valve body all together? Hope you get it worked out man!

Wonder how much line pressure you're supposed to have? My old TA did that, sort of. I had swapped out my stall and when the trans shifted into OD, it "slipped". My PCM sensed the slippage and boosted my line pressure to max, which made it shift hard/rough in every gear. So around town I had to leave it out of OD, then once I got to highway speeds, I could put it into OD.

Sounds like a dealer visit is all you can really do here............unless of course you want to buy a pricey aftermarket one. Arent you near the Suncoast place that Bone went to? You might want to give them a call.

been there, done that. My tremec went out at 8xxx miles. syncronizers were bad. You may have an auto but same principle If you have a good relationship with your stealership they'll overlook your sts. if not find a new dealership. Mine cost $6000+, or at least that's what the invoice said.:D So an auto can't be much cheaper.
