I can't break mine loose without clutching it...

And that is at 20 mph, no way I see doing it at 70, let alone trying it...

Do you have an 04 Tom? If so, the stock gears are holding you back. With my 4.88's I cannot give it full throttle in first anymore......just goes up in smoke. At 70 mph, no thanks, I would rather have traction!!!

I read the Dr.'s post and it sounds like he's got an 06 Viper if that makes any difference! They're around 2K lbs lighter then our trucks! But then again they have 325 series back tires. :dontknow:

I think he just calls it a viper truck. So he just says viper for short. Here is his other post where he combines the two.

Mine is an '06 Patrick... From what I understand that means I have 4.56 gearing already... If I clutch I can see breaking the tires loose easily, that includes gear changes, but if I am lined up straight and the clutch is already fully engaged, I can mash the throttle and the tires don't break loose. I am fine with that but I am thinking of an occasional tow with my RC :duck: and I am thinking I need at least 4.88s maybe more... I don't want to blow my clutch on a long trip...

Gears are $300 to $400, I forget which....install will be about the same depending on where you go. If your in Socal, go directly to Unitrax. There are a couple of guys here with 5.13's. You could start a thread if you want their opinion. I think one of them was gearheadbill.
