TUNING ISSUES

ive put probably less than 1000 miles on the car since 2008. Its been an ongoing, SLOW build.

I cannot verify fuel pressure while driving. the gauge is mounted to the FPR in the engine bay. I drove the truck today.

I can check what the fuel pressure is tonight if I have time.

Working 65-70 hrs per week is killer.

Actually a couple of gauges I want in the car are volt meter and a Fuel pressure gauge. Just haven't gotten around to buying them.

I really wish I knew someone who was well versed in Megasquirt.

umm... have you contacted megasquirt?

Megasquirt is kind of a DIY stand alone fuel management system. There is very little by the way of help with it. My issue is that NO ONE has Megasquirted a 6g75 engine. So I have had to start from scratch. Also, Megasquirt was designed really for and by computer geeks. It is NOT easy to use at all.

I wish I had done more research before I bought it but the price was right, or so I thought. I wish I had gone with a Microtec. Oh well. I am gonna make work what I got.

Seems to run out of fuel open loop. WOT doesn't use the O2 sensors. Only fuel mapping inputs. That transition seems to be the problem. I am thinki g software issue

Is the megasquirt a stand alone system or piggyback to the stock ECU?

Complete standalone. Can fuel inject virtually any engine with it.

Using a Ford EDIS ignition from a 1998 F-150. All that is needed is a 36 toothed trigger wheel on the crank, an optical sensor- and cylinder 1 to be at TDC- for the engine to run- as long as some basic ignition and fuel maps have been completed.

No its 100% on me. And I am a novice at tuning. Especially a program that is difficult to learn.

when you find time, google is your best friend!! study study study!! You need to understand what megasquirt does and how to do what you want with it. Or call around to tuning shops and find someone who has some experience with it. tuning takes alot of calculations and some experience after that. good luck!!..........sorry i can't help further. I have a book on engine management systems i try to study once in a while but it is difficult to stay focused with it .

Ive done so much reading. That shit is hard.

I know that I need to tune my Acceleration Enrichment, but that's even worse. Tip-in is rough as hell right now. I have to be so careful with the throttle.

I have a few buddies that are very good with Megasquirt on a 280z and a 60 something turbo super beetle. I can put you in contact with them if you like.

Yeah man that would be great. I just need to be shown the ropes a little bit.

There is no point in doing a WOT tune without datalogging and/or a dyno. Figure out how to data log before you damage the motor.

I just remembered something. Don't know if they are related... But...

When I first converted my truck to a 6-speed- I unknowingly installed an automatic tune with my SCT. At WOT it would do the same thing. Later I installed a proper 6-speed tune and the bucking stopped.

Dunno if there is any correlation but it is interesting.

Was the car originally an auto car also?

Well yes but that wouldn't matter.

I completely removed the factory wiring harness and ECU.

Megasquirt is a standalone ECU. I use my laptop to tune it. There is nothing factory left of the main wiring harness.
