types of tires input

Does anybody have any experiance with Yokohama tires, nitto or other types besides Toyo and Pirelli? I have had the Stock tires and the Toyos work better than the stock tires in my opinion, but I'm going to have to use a different type of tire to work with my Front rims with the new Airride setup. Any input would be nice

I just switched from the Pirelli's (okay tires for stock) to the Hankook Ventus.
I dropped one speed rating (from W to V), but traction is improved. I can still chirp going 1-2, but I really have to be on it when going 2-3, and it's now almost non-existent going from 3-4.

Ride is slightly better. No matter what you put on there, it will be bumpy. That's part of owning a performance vehicle.
If you want smooth, buy a Caddy.

I haven't really had a chance to try out their cornering ability, but I have no doubt they'll be fine.

Even with the aggressive tread design, the Hankooks are nice and quiet.
Their tread design is uni-directional, so rotating can only be done front-to-back.

I think they're a good option for our trucks. I'll let ya know in another 10,000 miles how much I like them.

the pirellis get hard if you heat them up (ie lots of burnouts), and after that the traction isn't all that great. a brand new set of pirellis made my truck a whole new beast! I can't chirp 2nd at all unless I put my old pirellis back on.

I believe 'V' is highest speed rated on the Yoko's. The stock Pirelli's are 'W'....considering your project, I would stick with a W, Y or Z rated tire

im sticking with the stock Pirelli's on mine. what i have found on the tires that were avaliable is the the pirelli had the best traction rating. traction is something very hard to come buy in these trucks. i dont care that the tire is soft i just want traction. there is nothing wrong with the other tires but i would not go lower on the speed rating.

speed rating is for a sustained amount of time like over 4 hours, i dont think any of us has a road where we could hold it at 120 to 130 for 4 hours. dropping down some in speed rating wouldnt hurt in my opinion.

You think thats bad on our CSRT8 the goodyear F1's are balding around 16K.

Since he is planning high speed passes in the 175+ area, you need a tire rated for at least your top speed. One, you wont pass tech, another, even if you get past tech, using a lower speed rated tire is playing Russian rullet.

ALSO....I think your choice in tire should be relevant to where you live. Here, we get occasional snow/sleet/rain so a soft tire is like driving on AstroGlide. In AZ where there's not as much rain/wet weather, a softer tire would work fine.

Kevan is correct. For what BN is planning he would not be allowed to run those tires.
