It's a mad, mad world out there... Here is a DVD series everyone should pickup. Especially you female friends out there that live alone. Michael Janich is a highly sought after and recognized instructor in several fields of self defense. Even if you carry a weapon for SD, you should still have some kind of unarmed training. You never know when you might get into a bad situation these days.... This is a quick preview of Janich's "Cycling" training. It's simple, and highly effective. Check it out!

Videos like that get people in situations they shouldn't be in. You cant learn what kind of forces it takes to stop or deflect a punch that's intended to hurt you from a video or talking about it.

You are ABSOLUTELY right, James... This small excerpt from a DVD training program is NOT the only tool to protect yourself from a situation where you would need to know how to defend yourself. You need training. Go someplace (preferably a Self-Defense Oriented training facility) and go through the program! But, all I was saying is, this is a GOOD/PROVEN concept that is SIMPLE and that WORKS. Check out Michael Janich's stuff.... he teaches some good things.

I would agree he is making plenty of assumptions stopping/deflecting those setup punches from his partner.

He was right about Taekwondo, not protecting your face.

Any attention to self-defense would be a benefit in the long run. Accumulate what you learn from various styles/techniques.
